Birth date/Location: December 8, 1928 in Resita, Romania to a long line of intellectuals; professors and magistrates.

Educated at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at the University of Bucharest, Literaturni Institute, Moscow (1954), Post Graduate Studies, Cleveland (1992), Doctor in Humane Letters, Doctor Honoris Causa.

1954-1971 Editor “Contemporanul” Magazine; 1971-1982 Deputy Editor in Chief “Romania Pitoreasca” Magazine; 1990-Present Director of “ECO”.

Memberships

Active member of the “New York Academy of Sciences”; Member of the “Academie Internationale du Tourisme”, Monaco; Honor member of the “Academy of Ecology”, Romania; Active member of the “National Academy of Ecological Sciences”, Republic of Moldova.

• Member of the Executive Bureau of the Provisional Council of National Unity (the main institution of the Romanian Revolution). • President and Founder of the Ecological Movement in Romania. • Head of the Chair of Ecosophy at the Ecological University in Bucharest, Romania. • Director of the magazines ECO, ECOMAGAZIN, and ECOSOPHIA. • Counselor of the National Council of the Audiovisual. • President of the European Foundation for the Ecological Education and Culture.

Toma George Maiorescu is the recipient of a multitude of National and International Awards.
