[edit] Career

Born Tom Vernon Kell on May 10, 1981, he signed to small label Tummy Touch in 2001 having spent the previous eight years writing and recording in his parents' garage.

Vek's debut album We Have Sound was recorded whilst he completed a graphic design degree. The album, which has been described[who?] as raw garage rock, driven by subtle electronic touches and a backbone of funk, was finished mid-2004 yet wasn't pressed until 2005 when Island Records licensed it through Go! Beat Records, home to David Holmes and Portishead. The record was subsequently licensed through Universal Records to Startime International for a North America release. He went to Kings College school in his younger years.

Vek's official website claims he is working on the follow-up album to We Have Sound, however Vek himself has been mysteriously quiet about this, with no media outlet possessing further information. Recent stories suggest that the new album is in fact finished, however due to problems with his record label Tummy Touch, Vek is close to resigning with Sunday Best.

Tom Vek has recently contributed to the Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack, with "One Horse Race" which was the B-side to his single "Nothing but Green Lights".
