Thomas R. "Tom" Sands is the Iowa State Representative from the 87th District. He has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2003.
Sands currently serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the Commerce committee; the Environmental Protection committee; the Public Safety committee; and the Ways and Means committee, where he is the ranking member. His political experience includes serving on the Columbus Junction City Council.
Sands was re-elected in 2006 with 5,118 votes, defeating Democratic opponent Andrew Hoth. [1]
