Tom Rasmussen

Tom Rasmussen is a member of the Seattle City Council, first elected in 2003. He was the first openly gay man elected to the Council. (Lesbians Sherry Harris and Tina Podlodowski were elected in 1991 and 1995, respectively.) As of September 2004 he is chair of the Housing, Human Services & Health Committee, vice chair of the Urban Development & Planning Committee, and a member of the Transportation Committee. He is currently running as the only unopposed candidate in the 2007 election.
His office is rounded out by Ann Corbitt, lead policy staffer, Maia Harris, scheduler and Brian Hawksford, policy staffer and caseworker. Pictures and bios of each are available online at the City Council's official website.
Rasmussen holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Pacific Lutheran University and a J.D. from Valparaiso University.
