[edit] Career

[edit] Guiding Light

Pelphrey's most notable role has been the role of Jonathan Randall the son of Reva Shayne and her late former husband, Richard Winslow, on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light. He joined the cast in September 2004 and received critical acclaim for his portrayal of anti-hero Jonathan.

He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Younger Actor" in 2005, and won the award the following year in April 2006. He received a third consecutive nomination in the same category in 2007 but lost out to Bryton McClure.

His character's popular romantic relationship with Tammy Layne Winslow (Stephanie Gatschet) was subject to great controversy, as the characters were first cousins and siblings by adoption. Pelphrey and Gatschet left the show in January 2007 in a storyline dictated exit.

Pelphrey returned for a brief stint in late July 2007 and early August 2007 on Guiding Light in the role he created. A book was published in September 2007 about his character's life on the run. He again returned to the show on January 22, 2008. According to Soap Opera Digest, Pelphrey has not signed a long-term contract, but he will be, as he states, "around for a while".

[edit] Primetime television

On March 30, 2007, he appeared in an episode of Numb3rs, "Pandora's Box". [1]

[edit] Theatre

From September 6, 2007 to September 30, 2007, Pelphrey performed in Kevin Mandel's A New Television Arrives, Finally as the title character, at Theatre 54, in New York.

[edit] Personal life

Pelphrey dated former Guiding Light co-star, Gina Tognoni, from February 2005 to November 2005.
