Tom O'Neil is a showbiz journalist and television critic who often appears as a pundit on TV shows featuring pop culture content. He has also worked as a producer for the TV Land network, editorial director of magazine development for the Hearst Corporation, freelance writer for publications like Variety, New York Times, and more recently as senior editor of In Touch Weekly and columnist for the Los Angeles Times awards site TheEnvelope.com.
O'Neil is the author of "Movie Awards," "The Emmys" and "The Grammys" published by Perigee, a division of Penguin Putnam. In 1999, he launched GoldDerby.com, a website devoted to predicting all major show awards: Oscars, Emmys, Grammys, Golden Globes and Tonys. It was acquired by the Los Angeles Times in November 2005 and folded into the launch of TheEnvelope.com.
