Tom Laughren

Tom Laughren is the 17th mayor of Timmins, Ontario. He took office on December 7, 2006, succeeding retiring longtime mayor Vic Power.

Laughren was acclaimed to the position after running unopposed in the November 2006 municipal election. Laughren first served as a public official for Timmins as a city councillor from 1994 to 2003.

Laughren is a lifelong resident of Timmins. He and his wife, Maureen, have been married for 28 years and they have three daughters together: Hillary, Elisha and Kylie.

Laughren's resume contains decades of community involvement and volunteer work. Some of that volunteer work includes:

  • Twenty-seven years as a volunteer firefighter.
  • Two terms (2004 and 2006) as the campaign co-chair for the Porcupine United Way.
  • One term (2005 to 2006) as the Timmins Chamber of Commerce president.
  • Chair of the 2000 Strategic Plan under the community initiative: Building Our Future.

Laughren is a resident of South Porcupine.
