Tom Korbee is best known as a singer/songwriter, and known for his starring role in the Jerry Herman musical revue Showtune (Off-Broadway, 2003). Korbee is married to actress Jennifer Peterson-Hind.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Tom began playing the piano, writing songs, and performing when he was five. While at St. Xavier High School, he trained his voice with Paul McCready at the Cincinnati Music Academy and studied jazz piano/composition with Phil Burkhead at The University of Cincinnati. He also wrote, co-produced, and starred in "Shades," a musical about life, forgiveness, and teen violence.
Tom continued his studies at the prestigious University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where he earned his BFA in Drama. Aside from starring in many plays and musicals at CCM including "Our Country's Good" directed by world famous director Nick Mangano, in 2002 he wrote, produced, and starred in a concert-style musical of his songs called "Will It Ever Stop Raining?" which was produced at CCM and received rave reviews and many sold out performances.
After his successes at CCM, Tom immediately relocated to New York City, was signed by Handprint Ent. Management Co., and was cast in a leading role in the world premiere of Showtune playing opposite Broadway veterans Martin Vidnovic and Donna McKechnie. He was privileged to work one-on-one with Jerry Herman throughout the production, and was also asked to reprise his role at the York Theatre Co. and on the original cast album. He also performs in the new documentary feature film "Words and Music by Jerry Herman" which aired on PBS in early 2008. After Showtune, Tom became a founding member of the Garson Theatre Co. in Santa Fe and starred in The Laramie Project directed again by Nick Mangano.
Tom then moved home to Cincinnati to record an EP co-produced by Roger Klug, with help from Jennifer Peterson-Hind and Eric Solomon. After that he relocated to Hollywood and began playing clubs around town. He quickly became the house player at a historic Melrose club and continued his songwriting. Tom was then cast in the title role in the world premiere of the rock musical "PILGRIM" at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre for which he received great reviews and exposure - even billboards on Hollywood Blvd. Tom continued his music by playing to packed audiences at clubs in Los Angeles like The Derby, The Viper Room and even a residency at The Mint.
He recently mixed, engineered, and played on Emmy nominated actress/singer Jennifer Peterson-Hind's debut country album "Give a Girl a Reason." Tom continues to write, perform and produce music and is also an actor and photographer in Los Angeles. He is working on a new album with producer Robb Vallier.
