Tom Cox

Thomas Michael Cox (born 24 January 1930) is a retired Labour party politician in the United Kingdom.

Cox was educated at the London School of Economics and became an electrician. He served as an alderman of Fulham Borough Council 1960-65 and as a councillor, representing Halford ward, on the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham from 1964, as well as as an ILEA councillor.

Cox contested Stroud in 1966. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Wandsworth Central from 1970 to February 1974, then for Tooting from February 1974 to 2005. He served as a whip in the 1974-1979 Labour government. He lives in Southfields in the London Borough of Wandsworth.
