Tom Clancy's EndWar is the first novel in the Tom Clancy's EndWar series. It was written under the pseudonym David Michaels and released on February 4, 2008 by Berkley publishers. The plot gives a fictional account of World War III.

After capturing a Russian GRU Colonel, the JSF retreats from Russia. The Russians launch an invasion in Canada with the intent of capturing land and oil while the JSF move to stop them by trying to form a resistance with the Canadian townsfolk.

- President David Becerra "American Eagle": The President of the United States. He is making a lot of the calls for US ground and air forces. He asks for the rescue of Maj. Stephanie Halverson.
- Roberta Santiago, National Security Advisor

- General Laura Kennedy, U.S. Army, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS): Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff she is the one ordering ground troops in Canada.
- General Rudolf McDaniel, (Vice Chairman of the JCS)
- Major Alice "Hammer" Dennison, USMC, JSF Tactical Operations Specialist "Hammer" (United States Marine Corps): A Marine Major. She is asked to break Colonel Pavel Doleskaya. She is also tapped by the Russians before events of the book. She is the eyes in the sky for all JSF forces in Canada.
- Charles Shakura, lead interrogator for JSF: The lead interrogator for JSF. He later is onbord a plane which was a decoy for the transportation of Colonel Dolestskaya. He is severely burned but survives.
- Major General Smith: A US Army JSF commander in Paris. He is killed when he calls a kinetic strike on his position after Russians over run his forces. He is mentioned in the book when word of his death reaches President Bacerra. It is noted although he died he was able to kill the Russian forces in Paris in the same kinetic strike that killed him. That kinetic strike is the one that takes place in the game trailer.

- Team Sergeant Nathan Vatz "Vortex";"Bali":US Army Special Forces inserted into Moscow then later into Canada. He takes command of Detachment Bravo when Captain Godfrey dies. He lives.
- Captain Tom Gerard, Detachment Commander: Commander of Victor Detachment. He is killed after being shot in the chest twice by a 30mm gun.
- Chief Warrant Officer 3 Douglas Barnes, Assistant Detachment Commander: Assistant Detachment Commander for Victor. He dies when he is shot in the femoral artery by a 30mm gun.
- Sergeant Zack Murrow, Weapons Sergeant "Volcano": Weapons Specialist for Victor detachment. Is killed after being shot in the head while covering Sgt.Vatz. This haunts Sgt.Vatz throughout the book.
- Captain Mike Godfrey, Detachment Commander, ODA 888, "Berserker Six": Commander of Bravo Detachment. Is killed while searching the town hall.
- Captain Manny Rodriguez, Detachment Commander, ODA 897, "Zodiac Six": Commander of Zulu Detachment. Its untold if he survives the events of the book.
- Chief Warrant Officer 3 Samson, Assistant Detachment Commander, ODA 888, "Black Bear": Assistant Detachment Commander of Bravo. He survives the events of the book.
- Sergeant Jac Sasaki, Senior Medic, ODA 888, "Band Aid": Senior Medic of Bravo Detachment. He is wounded in the assault on the town air port terminals. He survives the events of the book.
- Staff Sergeant Paul Dresden, Assistant Medic, ODA 888, "Beethoven": Assistant Medic of Bravo Detachment.He is killed by Spetznaz troops when Air Support arrives.

- Staff Sergeant Raymond McAllen, Force Recon Team Leader, "Outlaw One": Force Recon team commander. He is wounded by small arms fire. He survives events of the book.
- Sergeant Terry Jones, Assistant Team Leader, "Outlaw Two": Assistant Team Leader or Force Recon. He dies in Cuba after securing a crash site.
- Corporal Palladino, Team scout/sniper, "Outlaw Three": Force Recon sniper. He survives the events of the book.

- Major Stephanie Halverson, USAF, "Siren": United States Air Force pilot who is deployed to Northwest Territories "Igloo Base" to train on F-35 JSF. She is later shot down and chased by Spetznaz forces until rescued by Force Recon.
- Captain Jake Boyd, USAF, "Ghost Hawk": Maj. Halverson's wing man. He is shot down by a Russian gunship. He is later killed by Spetznaz search parties sent after him.
- Captain Lisa Johansson, USAF, "Sapphire": Maj. Halverson's wing man. She is shot down by a SU-29. There is no indication that she ejected.

- Captain Chuck Welch, Company Commander: U.S. Army Captain. He is directly in command of Staff Sergeant Rakken. He survives the events of the book.
- Staff Sergeant Marc Rakken, "Sparta Six": A U.S. Army Staff Sergeant. Friend of Sgt.Vatz. He and Sergeant Vatz traded knives before the mission staiting "If theres anyone of us coming back its going to be you". He is killed after covering a grenade to protect a Nest team.

- Vselovod Vselovodovich Kapalkin, President: The President of Russia. He comes up with the idea to invade Canada and then withdraws his troops after a nuclear threat is imminent.
- General Sergei Izotov, Director of the Glavnoje Razvedyvatel'noje Upralvenije (GRU): A Russian General who leads forces of the Assault on Canada's oil sands. Later he is forced to fall back his forces after an agreement with America.
- Colonel Pavel Doletskaya, (GRU): A Russian Officer who is taken captive by Sgt.Vatz team. He goes virtually crazy after he is constantly tortured and interogated. He later agrees to help hunt down the now rouge Colonel Viktoria Antsyforov.
- Major Alexei Noskov, Tactical Operations Officer "Warewolf": A somewhat crazy Russian Armored commander he attacks the town of High Level which is being held by ODA forces at the time. He is presumably killed when his convoy which retreated earlier gets wiped out by a Kinetic Strike.
- Colonel Viktoria Antsyforov (GRU): A GRU Colonel who fell in love with Colonel Pavel Doleskaya. She later betrays the Russians by siding with The Green Brigade.
- Commander Ivan Golova , commander of the Ulyanovsk: Captain of the Ulyanovsk a Russian Aircraft Carrier upgraded to support helicopters. He is killed when the Florida torpedoes his ship. All hands are lost.
- Captain Pravota, Ka-29: A Russian Army Pilot. He is taken captive by elements of Force Recon. At first he complains about being a POW. He then changes his views quoting "I want vacation" saying he wants to go with them.
- Captain Second Rank Mikhail Anatolyevich Kolosov: Commander of the Romanov. He is killed when the USS Florida sinks the Romanov. He is the brother of Colonel Viktoria Antsyforov.
