Tomás Sánchez

Tomás Sánchez (born May 22, 1948 in Aguada de Pasajeros, Las Villas) is a Cuban painter specializing in stately and often idealized landscapes. He studied at the San Alejandro School of Plastic Arts and the National School of Art in Havana, Cuba. His accolades include the Joan Miró Prize in 1980 and the Amelia Peláez Award in 1984. In 1989 he emigrated to Mexico. He now lives and works in Miami and Costa Rica.
