Tomás Mac Síomóin

Dr.Tomás Mac Síomóin was born in Dublin in 1938. He is a professional biologist. He has a doctorate from Cornell University, New York. He lectured in biology in Sligo and Dublin, before he took up writing fulltime. He spent periods as editor of the Gaelic language publications Comhar and Anois.

His short stories, poems, and articles are published in many languages and in various publications. His novel An Tionscadal won a major literature award in Oireachtas 2006, and he won the first prize for short story writing in 2005. He was married and has four children and five grandchildren. He lives in Catalonia.
