Talk:Tomorrow Never Dies

I don't think the device Carver uses to corrupt GPS signals is a 'decoder' - but I'll check before making a change. jamesgibbon 20:41, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The Walther P99
Is it really used in every subsequent film, as stated in the article? I think it's briefly seen in TWINE at the Swiss Bank offices, but what about DAD? I think the poster featured a Beretta: http://www.ianfleming.org/007news/images3/dadteaser.jpg - so I assumed they'd done a placement deal. jamesgibbon 20:53, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- That's just promotional art. It really is used in every film post-TND. Die Another Day: [1]. K1Bond007 22:32, Jun 25, 2005 (UTC)
The Beretta is used by Jinx in Die Another Day (standard gun of most american military organizations).
[edit] Trivia
The trivia with the title-typo is BULLSHIT, imho. i don't know any keyboard on which you can accidently type D for L.....
- Please sign your messages. No one ever said it was a typo (if the article does then that's a typo!). The fact the title was erroneously stated as being Tomorrow Never Dies and this was kept is a matter of record, and the original screenplay was titled Tomorrow Never Lies. 23skidoo 00:43, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] china or vietnam?
I'm trying to find out for James Bond locations if Bond went to mainland China in this film. When they go to the bay from which they start to investigate where the stealth ship is, which country is that? I thought it might be Vietnam because Saigon is where they start researching from, but it could also plausibly be China -- Astrokey44|talk 08:20, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- That was Halong Bay. He never goes to main land China. I think he does go to Japan though IIRC. I don't think we list that (Okinawa). K1Bond007 08:54, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- This can be added to trivia section, the scene in Halong Bay, which shot in Phuket, Thailand (I'm Thai). This is very clear for Thai people because the alphabets on the boat are Thai letters. Markpeak 16:15, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- This is near "James Bond Island" where they show Man with the Golden Gun, correct? 23skidoo 16:44, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

- I do not see the point of creating a new article for the book of Tomorrow Never Dies. It is after all just a derivation of the movie and it's right place is as an addendum/paragraph of the main article, the one on the film.****

[edit] Do not split the article
I oppose splitting the article into separate film and novel articles. I fail to see how this would benefit Wikipedia, plus the resulting article would be simply a stub unless you want to simply repeat the plot summary given here. 23skidoo 13:03, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- See Revenge of the Sith. ....(Complain)(Let us to it pell-mell) 04:52, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- There are huge differences between the ROTS movie and its novelization, not true for TND. Only minor differences and most aren't even notable. I mean, can we fill a page on it? Probably not. Not right now anyway, if ever. It would be entirely redundant with what is here right now. K1Bond007 05:43, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'd have to go hunting for the citation, but I do believe Benson was criticized for writing a novelization which was little more than an expansion of the script (as opposed to a piece of prose based upon the script). When I added the novelisation section I found it very difficult to write more than a few sentences. No way would this be any more than a stub with an infobox if it became a separate article. 23skidoo 13:16, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- The only difference that I'm aware of (and I read it back in '97 so I can't remember if this is true) is the opening in which Bond scales a frozen waterfall or something. It was in the early scripts, but dropped later on. I have a copy of the first (I believe) submitted draft and a copy of the finished screenplay. K1Bond007 18:58, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- You would talk about the writing of the novel, the reception, sales, influence, how strongly it is considered to be in the continuity....the lists go on. 61.69.12.19 23:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- There is no continuity with Benson. Sales are almost impossible where IFP is concerned. They keep all that close to their chest (as do most book companies). Influence? I don't see how it can be influential when it is based on a film. That's the film's job. Reception is probably the only thing and it's not something that is in abundance because it is a novelization. [edit] Edifice not Oedipus
The trivia section states that Bond incorrectly stated that Carver had an Oedipus complex. I always thought that Bond in the movie said "Edifice complex." It would make sense since he was talking about how many buildings Carver had in addition to being a witty play-on-words. Is there anyone that can confirm what Bond says? --Ultimo Camdawg 22:23, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry, I guess I wasn't reading it closely enough. It's fine.--Ultimo Camdawg 05:30, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Removed Trivia
I have removed a selection of trivia items which are unsourced and as such are original research. They took a variety of 'facts', analysed them and drew conclusions based upon that analysis. If anyone wishes to do this, they need to provide verifiable sources for each one. Cheers, Localzuk(talk) 22:35, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Original research and unreferenced claims
Please can editors of this article please try and abide by our policies. All statements should be accompanied by a reliable, verifiable source. They should also abide by our neutrality policy and our original research policy. Also, can any editors watching this article please remove such items if they are added as I would end up breaching the 3 revert rule if I did it all myself (as I did today it seems - but I won't be reverting again). Wikipedia should be striving for quality more than quantity of infomation, and according to Jimbo this is our goal for this year. Adding information without sources or full of opinion reduces the quality of the articles on the site and therfore damages the credibility of the site and its community.-Localzuk(talk) 21:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rupert Murdoch
How come this article makes no mention of the presumed inspiration for the character of Carver? Surely I'm not the only one who thought it was a thinly veiled caricature Rupert Murdoch, right? 24.215.248.146 01:22, 10 August 2007 (UTC) 8/8/07
- Find a reliable citable source for it. Although the ending bit about Carver falling from is yacht is obviously a reference to Maxwell but again it needs a citable source before it can be added. - X201 07:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Title Song
The song had two songs entitled "Tomorrow Never Dies", but the more notbale one, the one which garnered the awards, was sung by Sheryl Crow. I could be wrong, but the second song (played over the closeing credits) was sung by KD Lang. I think the distinction need not normally be made for most films, but I think thisis an exception.
