Talk:Tom Martino

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article I linked to contains a lot of scathing information. I included only a brief statement so that it would mesh into the existing article. Wikipedia readers can look at the article, Tom's refferal list, and Tom's website and decide for themselves if they think Martino is looking out for them or his bank account. I am tempted to include some quotes from the article such as "Clearly, Martino is devoted to expanding his empire -- and he's not about to let a few sex offenders get in his way." but I thought it might overun the whole article —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.57.50.96 (talkcontribs) .

Quotes of that nature generally aren't encyclopedic and shouldn't be included in an article. What we have to do is make sure we follow Wikipedia's official policy on Neutral Point of View. The information you added was good, balancing the article, but I think it could use some reorganization. I was thinking sections on Early career, Radio and television, and Criticism.

I understand NPOV-- that is why I did not include a bunch of quotes in the article... and why I did not make the article lopsided in length by including all the critisisms from the Westword article (ie Martino's ownership of a telecomunications company and endorsement of various products being in direct conflict with his position as a consumer advocate.)

The article is not long enough (nor should it be given Martino's primarily local status) to support seperate sections. The critism is directed at the the troubleshooter network and his status as a consumer advocate and belongs topically just above or just bellow that paragraph.

[edit] Proposed deletion

I created this article, and now I am proposing its deletion. Martino is no longer in national syndication & may not meet notability standards anymore. The main source is primarily Martino's promotional biography. At this point the article serves mainly as an ad for his paid sponsorships. --Ginkgo100 talk 02:35, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
