[edit] Photos
For heaven's sake! Not another one!
I'm going to make the same complaint I made about the Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson articles regarding the photos: this article is too short to have two photos and not look ridiculous, especially since (as is currently the case on the D. Radcliffe, R. Grint and E. Watson pages) one of the photos is right on top of the other. Someone needs to either move one of the photos down or delete it all together. It's like someone went through these articles and spammed them with photos; consequently, I am going around to these articles' talk pages and spamming them with complaints. --Hazey Jane 06:22, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
I would argue that this article needs a photo of Tom not in charactorAngielaj 04:34, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] the page
To me the page looks fine, it's the picures that bother me. They should be changed. Something more recent would be nice. Espically for Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert GRint.
[edit] Time for a semi-protect?
This article has seen a lot of anon and newbie edits regarding his love life, but the edits are all unencyclopedic, pointless, and above all, uncited. Perhaps it's time for a semi-protect? The next time we see a bunch of edits, I'm putting up the semi-protect unless there are objections here. --Deathphoenix ʕ 05:15, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- You have my backing, I got fed up of reverting those edits myself yesterday. Death Eater Dan (Muahaha) 06:21, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- It might be unnecessary, I might have finally gotten through to Firewhiskeyangel, but we'll see. --Deathphoenix ʕ 15:42, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not holding my breath. Death Eater Dan (Muahaha) 16:19, 8 April 2006 (UTC) *Slaps oneself for that lapse into cynicism*

I told you it wasn't just me! (firewhiskeyangel) I stopped.
I put up a semi-protect following another attempt. I'm only leaving this in for two or three days, then removing it after this time. If it continues, I'll put up the semi-protect again. --Deathphoenix ʕ 01:53, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- I've removed the semi-protect, but will ruthlessly reinstate it if I see the same attempts again. --Deathphoenix ʕ 14:58, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- That was really a tactless ad hominem attack on FireWhiskeyAngel, DeathPhoenix. Dragix 20:31, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Photo!
I agree with an earlier comment made- a new photo is desperately needed! The current one is at least four to five years old, from around the time of filming either the Sorcerer's Stone or Chamber of Secrets. Tom Felton is eighteen now. It's certainly time for a change. Will someone please un-protect the page for a bit so a more recent (and flattering) photograph of Tom can be submitted?
- Where's the more recent photo? It would be absolutely smashing if you had one that is public domain, GFDL, or some other free one rather than fair use, although, of course, such things are rather unlikely. A free one would be a picture that a fan snapped while meeting him or something. --Deathphoenix ʕ 11:45, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- Managed to grab a new-ish interview screen shot from the PoA (HP3) DVD Disc 2 ("extras") - should look more up to date and non-Malfoyish than the old original Malfoy publicity photo for the time being. He looks similar here to those pics posted on his web site at TomFelton.com . These types of interview screen shots were used to illustrate the Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint articles, as captured and posted a few months ago by RadioKirk . --T-dot 20:03, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Someone recently switched the image back to Felton in his Malfoy character costume. This is not proper. We need images of real people "as themselves" whenever possible - not "in character". Thanks. --T-dot 12:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Myspace
This guy have a myspace profile? ive found it the other day and i hope that somebody could confirm it the link is Here thanks!--ometzit 09:37, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
No it is not him on Myspace, whoever wrote that is American not British! Its pretty obvious from the Happy Holidays title of a blog, we do not ever say that over here! Plus we do not call footballs soccerballs!
- Lots of people create Myspace profiles for celebrities, but it very rarely is them. The profiles are full of factual errors usually anyway. Lradrama 21:12, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Playstation Bordello?
This article claims that Tom Felton is filming a movie (or some sort of TV) called "Playstation Bordello." However, I never found any other Tom Felton sites confirm it, nor have I found a movie called "Playstation Bordello." If this is true, at least give us the link to the website that confirms this. Otherwise, please delete it.
Thanks,
Yu Han
- Done - WP:V violation. No such finding in a google search. If someone can find an authoritative source, they can put it back. Thanks for the heads up. Another way to point out such problems is add a { {citation needed} } next to the questionable text --T-dot 11:26, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Factual error?
Blocked editor User:PEAR has brought the following excerpt to our attention: "For those overseas, we can't drive here until we are 17, so I'm not getting a car until September. So all those websites comments about me driving a Mercedes are completely wrong!" [1] PEAR says the references to his favourite type of car/what he drives needs to be changed. Can anybody familiar with this subject check this out? Cheers, Tangotango 13:32, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
His favourite cars are BMWs, the interview mentioned above is a few years old as he will be 19 in a couple of weeks.
[edit] Photo please?
This article needs a photo of the boy JayKeaton 14:07, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fangirl?
It's not paticularly harmful to the article, but do we really need to know Tom's favourite foods and fashion labels? This article is edited to read like a fansite. 80.43.9.157
[edit] More of an encomium, actually
Should it be added to the "Awards" section that he is the subject of the song "Tom Felton's Kinda Hot" by Draco and the Malfoys? Asat 04:51, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Definitely not in the awards section. It should probably only be mentioned if "Draco and the Malfoys" pass Wikipedia:Notability (music), which seems unlikely. Hammer Raccoon 10:59, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cleanup of citations needed
Can someone please clean up the references given in this article? I will change the lower case j in Japanese though ;) Thanks Naysie (my tildes key is broken)
[edit] References
The references section would look much nicer if transferred to the same style as in, say, Uma Thurman and Lindsay Lohan. For information on how to convert references into in-line citation, see Wikipedia:Citation templates. Tell-Tale Ghost 08:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- I know this section is a mess :( Still working on it... PeaceNT 09:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Home Farm Twins - 2005?
Are you sure this is correct? I watched Home Farm Twins when I was quite young - the short-lived series certainly didn't air just 2 years ago and I'm sure Tom Felton didn't film it as the 4th Harry Potter film was in progress. On IMDb, it says Home Farm Twins aired in 1999, which is more along the lines of what I was thinking. Lradrama 15:09, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I haven't checked the table yet, but the info could possibly be correct, Home farm twins originally aired in 1999 but the five season was produced in 2004 or something (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0603403/) MuggleNet says Tom did join in the film http://www.mugglenet.com/castspecials/tf/information.shtml. However, I did notice Flixster lays down that it is a rumour. http://www.flixster.com/actor/tom-felton. Gee, not sure yet... I'll go through all the facts again. Thanks for asking the question. PeaceNT 15:40, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
-
- Oh infact I've just checked IMDb (Tom Felton's profile) and it does say there were unknown amounts of episodes in 2005. I really never knew! I though they were all repeats. How confusing! Thanks for undertaking the research, it'll be very much valued by those who work with / read this article. :-) Lradrama 15:46, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] He is almost 20
And he plays a high-school student in Harry Potter? How does that work out? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.14.100 (talk • contribs)
- The same as the rest of the HP actors I would imagine? Or - remember Dawson's Creek? Beverly Hills 90210? Or how about 21 Jump Street? Won't even get into Varsity Blues (film) and Friday Night Lights (film). Lots of close shaving several times a day, (except perhaps for fashionable random chin-whiskers) and extra layers of makeup. Nevertheless, it is a bit amusing to contemplate that the actors in Harry's "age group" would be 23-ish by the time HP7 would (presumably) be released in the Summer of 2010, with the characters portrayed as being 17-ish. --T-dot ( Talk/contribs ) 15:38, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think that is fine, as long as the actor looks young enough. PeaceNT 08:40, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
-
- It is quite common actually. Bear in mind that the character of ghost Moaning Myrtle is played by Shirley Henderson who was 37 years old when she played the teenage character in the second film. Lradrama 12:41, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Not to mention that Christian Coulson was in his mid-twenties when portraying the teenage Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets. faithless (speak) 02:45, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA review
I have reviewed the article and have concerns about the following:
- The lead needs to be expanded per WP:LEAD, it should be able to stand on its own.
- Lead expanded to appropriate length. PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- The early life section is lacking in coverage, is there anything else about his childhood?
- It's rather hard, for he started his career at age 8, so all materials I could find about his early life would all turn out to be about his early career, which don't fit in. PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- When you say "the age of X" this could be shortened to just "at age X"
- Done, "there" removed. PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- "Felton beat out 400 potentials", the wording "beat out" sounds awkward.
- I rewrote that part, please check if there's anything more need fixing. PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- I find the reword "Felton began acting in commercials by winning out over 400 potentials for a coveted advertising campaign" even more awkward. What about "Felton began acting in commercials by beating over 400 young actors for a role in a coveted advertising campaign"? Hammer Raccoon 10:00, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've reworded per your suggestion, "beat" indeed sounds better then "beat out" or "win out". PeaceNT 10:13, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

-
- "The Guildford Cathedral Choir also offered him a position there." The "there" is unnecessary.
- Done. PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Can the future projects subsection be expanded upon? is this the only information that is known about his future projects?
- Been trying to find more information, not easy, Harry Potter is the only movie he's involved with currently, you know... PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Most of the personal life section reads like crufty trivia, such as "He also enjoys football, rollerskating,....." Can the rest of this section be merged into the early life section?
- Hey, I rewrote the section, please examine if it is okay now. :) PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Are there any free images of Felton available? Could you find one on Flickr that has a Creative Commons license compatible with Wikipedia such as here?
- Hmm, a free image is currently unavailable. I have searched flickr, but all images that showed up unfortunately don't have free license. I'll to email the author to get permission for an image, but this would take time. PeaceNT 06:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Stability may be a problem because it is unknown if he will be reprising his role as Draco Malfoy, however I don't think this is an immediate concern.
Besides these issues the article has a nice set of citations, there appears to be no original research, the article is written in a neutral tone, and it seems to be stable as of now. Just needs to work on the lead and being broad in coverage. T Rex | talk 14:39, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- One question, what is the Howard of Effingham in "graduated from Howard of Effingham."? Is it a school? if so what level of schooling? T Rex | talk 09:35, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's a secondary school. PeaceNT 09:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Favourite country USA?
In the article this sentence appears: "His ideal place for a holiday is the United States of America, Felton's favourite country."
Here is the relevant part from the reference, an interview with him when he was 14: "Q: Have you traveled a lot for the premiers and promotions? Where have you gone that you really liked? Tom: My favorite country is America. I love going there! [My family] went to Orlando, Florida, for 10 days to the theme parks and the beaches. It was nice."
Felton's answer indicates his love of the US is down to the beaches in Florida. Saying the US is "Felton's favourite country" implies a certain political preference as well as geographical, which clearly wasn't intended in Felton's own answer, especially as he was barely a teenager at the time. I'm gonna go ahead and remove the "Felton's favourite country" part for now. This is an awful lot of text explaining the removal of three words I know, I just wanted to clearly state my rationale, which is sometimes difficult in an edit summary. Hammer Raccoon 10:22, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yes best to remove even slight POV, especially when it can be misconstrued. T Rex | talk 10:37, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, calm down, Hammer. :) No objection to your removal. I really should have been more careful about possible misinterpretation. PeaceNT 10:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Haha, I am calm! In all seriousness, I just wanted to make sure you understood why I was removing seemingly perfectly acceptable, sourced information. By the way, let me commend you PeaceNT for transforming this article from the mess that it was into a properly referenced piece. Hammer Raccoon 14:06, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA pass
I have passed this article because I believe it meets all the GA criteria. It is well written, well sourced/factually accurate, broad in coverage, written in a neutral tone, and stable. Even though it doesn't have an image this doesn't mean that it should fail. For this article to reach featured status I believe it would need an image. It probably won't be able to be a featured article until his acting career expands past Harry Potter. Congratulations to all who worked on this article. T Rex | talk 16:41, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you all for your assistance, and the review! Best wishes, PeaceNT 03:00, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- This article has really become great over a month's or so time. It's imcomparable with what it looked like before. Major kudos! All Hallow's Wraith 01:04, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
