Tolisa is place north-east of Bosnia and Hercegovina in region Bosanska Posavina. Got name by a river Tolisa, which flowed by old village position. Oldest written trail about name Tolisa is from 13. century - "Tera Tolis" (Greece, Latin: muded land) for region around river Tolisa.
In Tolisa started first civil elementary school in Bosnia and Hercegovina in year 1823. Founder was parish priest friar Ilija Starčević. First teacher was Ilija Boričić from Slavonija.
Biggest catholic church in Bosnia and Hercegovina is placed right in Tolisa. Construction work started in time of Ottoman Empire government 1864, and ended in 1881.
Today, Tolisa count approximately 3900 people. (uki)
