Tokyopia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tokyopia (founded in March 2001) is a non-profit group of media professionals working predominantly in the Japanese video game industry. Members include Japanese video game icons Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Yuzo Koshiro.
The group's website was the internet's first English language Japan gaming blog, updated periodically by Tokyopia members including Electronic Gaming Monthly International Editor John Ricciardi, Wired Magazine contributor Chris Kohler, and G4 Editorial Director Justin Keeling. More recently the group's website hosted the first English language community moblog from Japan.
Tokyopia organises the largest Tokyo Game Show social gathering annually each September, and maintains a strictly moderated forum community providing a local advice and support network for game industry expatriates.
USA Today's Steven L. Kent, in an article for GameSpy described the group as "highly opinionated... educated... respected, even in Japan."
