Tokushima Line (徳島線 Tokushima-sen?) is a Japanese railway line of Shikoku Railway Company (JR Shikoku), between Tsukuda Station in Miyoshi and Sako Station in Tokushima, east-westerly in the midst of the Tokushima Prefecture. As the line runs along Yoshino River, it is officially nicknamed Yoshino River Blue Line (よしの川ブルーライン?). Nowadays, the line primary functions as a commuter rail for Tokushima, while it also serves as a link between Tokushima and Kōchi prefectures.

[edit] Basic data

[edit] History

The first section of the line, between Tokushima and Kawata, opened in 1899 by Tokushima Railway (徳島鉄道 Tokushima Tetsudō?). The line extended to Awa-Ikeda in 1914. It further extended to Minawa in 1931, but the last extended section was incorporated into Dosan Line later.

[edit] Operation

The termini of trains are Tokushima beyond Sako, and Awa-Ikeda beyond Tsukuda. The limited express train Tsurugisan (剣山?) runs between Kannoura/Kaifu/Tokushima and Anabuki/Awa-Ikeda, 7 laps a day. Local trains run approximately once per hour.

[edit] Stations

All stations are within Tokushima.
