Tokunoshima (徳之島町 Tokunoshima-chō?) is a town in Ōshima District, Kagoshima, Japan. It is located on the island of Tokunoshima.

As of 2008, it has an estimated population of 12,656 and the density of 121 persons per km². The total area of the city is 104.87 km².

Shigechiyo Izumi 1865-1986 is the person with the second longest recorded human lifespan in history (after French-woman Jeanne Calment) was born in Tokunoshima; he lived to be 120 years and 237 days old.

Tokunoshima Airport serves the city.
