Tokheho

Tokheho Yepthomi, born 12 October 1952 is a politician in Nagaland, India. Currently he is a member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, where he was elected from the Congress Party. He represents the 34 Aghunato constituency in Nagaland.

Tokheho was born in Aghunato, a Sub Division in Nagaland, India to Xukhuvi Yepthomi. He represents the same subdivision today in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. He received his early education in Aghunato and Zunheboto. He is a graduate from St. Edmunds College, Shillong.

  • He joined the Indian National Congress in 1981.
  • Elected for the first time to the Nagaland legislative assembly in 1993, from the Indian national Congress. Was appointed as cabinet minister for Transport and Communication in 1995.
  • Re-elected in 1998 from the same party, was appointed cabinet minister for Public Health Engineering
  • Re-elected in 2003 from the same party.
  • He resigned from the Congress Party and joined the Nagaland People's Front with 7 other legislative members from the Congress party[1]. Inducted as a cabinet minister for housing in 2003 in the DAN government. After the downsizing of the ministry from 32 to 12, he was appointed as the cabinet minister for P.W.D.
  • Resigned from the DAN ministry as a cabinet minister on the 27/11/2007[2].
  • Resigned as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, with 19 other legislatures from the DAN government, reducing it to a minority on the 10 of January 2008.
  • He contested in the 2008 state legislative elections from a Congress Party ticket, and got elected for the fourth term to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
