Together! was one of a number of sampler albums issued by the CBS record label in the early 1970s. Continuing the tradition of The Rock Machine Turns You On, new product and artists were presented at a budget price. The album is unusual for a sampler in that it was released on blue translucent vinyl.

Following the trend set by its predecessors, the cover does not show any of the featured artists beyond showing images of the featured albums on its rear. The design is uncredited. The band seen from behind, and in reflection, on the front cover cannot be identified with certainty.
