Todpool
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Todpool is a small hamlet in south-west Cornwall, UK, and is located between Chacewater and St Day.
During the 1800s it was part of Cornwall's mining industry, due to its proximity to Poldice Mine, and disused mineshafts and derelict engine houses are scattered throughout the area. Todpool was once busy enough to support a pub (now a private house), and a church, now gone. It is now an extremely quiet little backwater, and a few miners' cottages still remain, one recently restored.
The single road that runs through Todpool is Bownder An Sycamor, which translates from Cornish as Lane of the Sycamore.
