Todd Wilkins

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Todd Wilkins is a fictional character who appears in the Sweet Valley High book series, and the majority of its spin-offs. He was played by Ryan James Bittle (1994-1996) and Jeremy Garrett (1996-1998) in the TV series of the same name. Melissa Devlin used to call her twin brother Todd Wilkins because his name was also Todd. He also shared similarities with the aforementioned Wilkins, including playing on his school's basketball team.

[edit] Sweet Valley Twins

Todd Wilkins appears as Elizabeth Wakefield's 'sort-of' boyfriend. They go through many events as a couple and date during sixth and seventh grade. He is on the basketball team. They fell in love and he gave Elizabeth Wakefield a Heart Locket to show the passion of his love for her in 6th grade.

[edit] Sweet Valley High

Reliable, down to earth Todd Wilkins was star of the basketball team. Early books indicated that he had a younger sister, and then a younger brother, however it was later confirmed that he was an only child.

Todd began dating Elizabeth in the first book of the series, Double Love, despite her twin sister's attempts to claim Todd for herself. Their first break up occurred when his father received a company transfer, resulting in the Wilkins family moving to Vermont. The Secret Diaries series reveal that Todd and Jessica embarked on a secret fling during his time there.

While in Vermont, Todd ran into Suzanne Devlin at a nearby ski resort. After discovering that she was no longer the trouble making young girl he had met in Sweet Valley, he began a relationship with her.

Mr Wilkins was later transferred back to Sweet Valley after becoming President of Varitronics. Todd initially attended a private school and casually dated Courtney Kane, the daughter of one of Varitronics executives. However, he soon realised that he was still in love with Liz. The pair re-united and Todd went back to attending Sweet Valley High.

Their relationship hit a snag after the events of the Jungle Prom, which saw Liz arrested for vehicular manslaughter. Their break up was followed by another fling with Jessica. They got back together after Liz was acquitted, yet found themselves going through another rocky stage with the appearance of Margo Black, a psychotic Elizabeth doppelganger.

The arrival of Devon Whitelaw spelled the end of things for Todd and Liz and they broke up for good at the end of their junior year.

[edit] Sweet Valley Senior Year

Todd joined the football team and dated Megan Sandborn, Connor McDermott's younger half sister. The end of the Sweet Valley Senior Year series saw a brief friendship-based reunion of Todd and Elizabeth, which we assume lead into their relationship being "on again" at the start of the Sweet Valley University series, in order to regain some continuity.

[edit] Sweet Valley University

Todd and Liz began university as a couple, but broke up soon into the series. He started dating a girl named Lauren. He began as a basketball star but was kicked off the team after an article by Liz revealed that he had been accepting gifts. He developed a brief drinking problem and eventually dropped out of college. He got himself back together and when he saved Elizabeth from William White, Todd and Elizabeth became close again.

During a cruise, Todd and Elizabeth reunited and became close. They later worked on a story together and got Todd back on the team.

After a breakup with Tom, Todd and Liz get back together. When Todd's former girlfriend, Gin-Yung Suh was diagnosed with cancer, they decided to separate so Todd could care for Gin-Yung. Todd promised that he and Elizabeth would be together again one day.

In Elizabeth's Secret Love Diary, Elizabeth and Todd reunite at a wedding. They become a couple again, but in the end they decide to go their separate ways, but promise to always care about each other.
