Toby MacFarlaine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Toby MacFarlaine is a musician from London, England. He is the frontman of his band Reunion Square, and bassist with ex-Blur guitarist Graham Coxon. McFarlaine was also in the band Thirteen:13, and has toured with Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley and Irish indie rock band JJ72.

On December 24, 2006, it was reported by numerous news agencies that Toby MacFarlaine would join The Darkness to play bass, due to Justin Hawkins' departure. Previous bassist Richie Edwards is to become the lead vocalist, thus leaving the position of bass open for MacFarlaine.

On December 28, 2006, MacFarlaine posted the following message on Graham Coxon's messageboard:

...can't divulge much at present, but I am indeed in a new band with Dan, Ed and Rich who are presently known as The Darkness. A new name is to be announced shortly and then we shall take over the world and rule it with a rubber fist! [1]

In MySpace blog entries from the three remaining members of The Darkness, it was announced that the band has started recording with Toby taking the place of Richie Edwards on bass. Eventually it was revealed that the band was not going to continue under the Darkness name and the new band would be called Stone Gods.
