To The East, Blackwards was the debut album from Hip Hop group X-Clan. This was one of hip-hop's most acclaimed albums of the early 1990s, famous for its Afrocentric, pro-Black content.[citation needed] Its debut single "Raise The Flag" from 1989 is included here, as well as the hit[vague] "Funkin' Lesson." In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source Magazine's 100 Best Hip-Hop Albums.[citation needed]
