[edit] ranting
seems like this article was written by someone who's pissed at the changes in TLC. Although this article does seem to be biased, I agree with it completely. I used to watch TLC for science and technology... now, every time I turn ton the TLC channel, all I get is human relationship, etc... So yea, I agree completely with the article. [edit] BBC
I took out the specific reference to the BBC as the example given ("Junkyard Wars") is a Channel 4 program. I had a quick look at the TLC web site, but I couldn't find any actual BBC shows listed there, with the possible exception of Brum. If anyone knows of any actual BBC material that ends up on TLC, feel free to add it back. --rbrwr
- TLC and all discovery networks have a well-known relationship with BBC. I'm not sure if they are owned by the same people or what, but it is certain that many BBC productions end up on discovery-owned networks. Many documentaries originate from the BBC, and some series are syndicated, adapted for, and some cases even cloned for discovery networks. Watch any discovery-owned station and you'll see many documentaries that at the end say BBC in the credits.
- Trading Spaces, arguably the flagship program of the network, and several others, are co-productions of the BBC and Banyan Productions.--The Monster 02:37, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Just FYI:
I'm a female and I do not appreciate the changes that TLC has made to its programming over the course of the last six or seven years. I didn't mind it as much when TLC started edging towards more entertaining programming (e.g. "Trauma: Life In The E.R." and "Paramedics"), but this new-look TLC is for all intents and purposes dead to me. I can't recall the last time I watched anything on TLC, nor do I really want to. None of the baby-themed or wedding-themed programming appeals to me, nor does any of the nighttime programming, including the poor remake of the classic "What Not To Wear".
I wanted to express this just in case anyone read the original article and inferred from the "feminine" mention re: the completely revamped TLC that that automatically means it suits all females. BTW, I'm still pissed I didn't get to check out the classic, pure education version of TLC, the one that used to sponsor certain PBS programs (including "European Journal" IIRC). I'm also pissed there are no real alternatives on the non-digital tier. Krushsister 04:56, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] References
I have tagged this article as it does not cite several references, specifically pertaining to criticisms. I am unable to verify most of these criticisms, so I added the tag with hopes that other editors may be able to cite these claims. Ajwebb 21:58, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
This article is terrible. I've tagged it with {{POV}}, {{OR}}, and {{weasel}}, mostly pertaining to the criticism sections. Melchoir 03:27, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- On the face of it, with the template tags at the top of the article, it was very difficult to determine what was at issue. Seeing the concerns here, I've moved the tags to the section that seems to be at issue. Agent 86 23:32, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] TLC to take on OC Choppers but no High Definition?
I enjoyed OC Choppers on Discovery HD but now that they have moved this show to TLC I am a little dissapointed as TLC does not offer High Definition programming, at least that I am aware of?

The Criticism section seems to be one person's opinion without any citations. This section should be removed.
