Martial Arts History

Clint Boit was born the youngest of four children in Bismarck, North Dakota on May 18th, 1972. His parents were divorced by the young age of 4. Due to his mother working hard as a single parent, Clint began to get into trouble at the young age of 10. After several arrests for shoplifting, vandalism, and other petty crimes, Clint was placed on probation. That same year, he met Master Ron Lochthowe when he was giving a demonstration at his grade school in Mandan. After the demonstration, Clint began Tae Kwon Do, and was instantly changed. Never again did Clint get arrested.

Being personally insulted by Master Ron very early, Clint sought out a new instructor, one who would respect him and one he could respect. He found this person in Master Bruce Kim. Master Kim and Clint would meet regularly for the next several years while he still trained at Master Ron’s school, Clint always kept this hushed because he knew Master Ron would disapprove.

Clint was awarded a Black Belt one stripe from Master Kim in 1985 at the early age of 13, after Clint performed outstanding at his testing. Clint attributes his consistent improvement due to training with two different TKD instructors..

Competing in Tae Kwon Do, proved to be an exciting enjoyment for him. Placing high in sparring for several years in sparring at the local, state and eventually national level (Silver Medal in Sparring – 1988 AAU Nationals) gave Clint a high sense of respect for his instructors and fellow trainees.

After seeing many political battles happen at Master Ron’s school, Clint began training with Master Ted Fitsimmons. Master Fitsimmons gave him great respect and treated him not only as a colleague, but a friend. After seeing even more political bickering, he moved on to only train with Master Kim.

Clint went to college in 1990 and soon after started his first school – American Martial Arts – after Master Bruce moved to California. Constantly training to keep himself sharp, Clint studied many different styles and sought out seminars to improve and expand his skills.

In 1996, Clint was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. His longtime friend, student, and colleague began instructing his Fargo school.

Currently, Clint is opening a large school in the Omaha, Nebraska area under the name of San-Mai Martial Arts.
