Timothy James Murdoch, or TJ James as he is commonly referred to, is an Australian singer/songwriter based in Canberra. He became involved in music at an early age and has been performing professionally since 1993.
TJ began his career by busking in and around the Canberra region and quickly became one of the cities most recognised and respected performers by both the public and his peers alike.
In addition to performing in many local venues TJ has supported two of Australia’s most prominent and contemporary music artists, Wendy Mathews and Rick Price, with both performances drawing a feverish response from all who witnessed them.
2001 saw TJ release his debut E.P. Able Bodied. Able Bodied enabled TJ to receive major press coverage within the ACT on TV, radio and within the local print media. In addition TJ undertook his first interstate performances in support of the E.P.
2003 saw the release of TJ’s self titled debut album which continues his evolution as an artist and songwriter.
2007 saw the release of TJ’s 3rd CD and first international release Another World.
With album sales in excess of 1,400 copies without the aid of a recording company or distribution network TJ James is an artist to watch.
Having been born with cerebral palsy TJ has a close working relationship with cerebral palsy related charities across Australia, and donates 20% of the CD sale price ($4/albumn and $2/EP) to cerebral palsy related charities. Having a close working relationship with these charities, TJ also assists by donating his time and resources.
It is TJ’s dream to market his music internationally through cerebral palsy charities around the world and to inspire others that anything is possible.
