I get to that part of the world quite often, as I'm only about three hours drive away, so I'm happy to get photos, particularly when a more intensive service starts. It's a good excuse for me to visit! Yes, I saw there were plans to have No. 7 running on the Talyllyn. I'd love to see that. I've been a member of the Corris Railway Society since the early 80s, so I keep in touch with developments there pretty well. I envy you your 3 hour trip - its a bit further from New York :-) On the TR article, I think there's lots of scope for improvement, and I was skimming through various books before work today. I've had a look at the Talyllyn Railway article. I can't see any problems with it going further to FA standard. My only little gripe is that the references are a bit repetitive, and that in my experience as a final-year student of History, several could be replaced with "ibid., page 45" etc. However, this is only a matter of personal taste, and that I don't really follow it myself on Wikipedia as it gets a bit tedious. It is also nothing that would seriously hamper its potential as an FA. Well done. I'm off to have a look at your comments on the N15 class now.

Hi - I was thinking of letting you know that I was lkiely to be in the area last weekend, (I stopped in a B&B in Borth) but I was unsure when or if I'd be free. I'm in that area quite often, so I'll let you know next time I'm around. I've got photos of Llandre, Capel Garn and Rhyd-y-Pennau which I'll upload sometime as well.

The photograph is included as a parameter of the infobox, so the position is fixed. It could be included separately further down, though personally I think it's better to see at least one picture when you open a page. I see you’ve now uploaded the other photos like you said you would, which are great. I’m more than happy for the one of Bow Street to stay in the info box if that’s general practice. Do you know if there are any example pages for villages/towns on Wikipedia showing prescribed layout, section headings, etc? As I don’t have much time to trawl through page after page of guidelines, examples for me to simply follow would be best. Please do let me know next time you’re passing through and maybe we could meet up at Rhydypennau in the craft centre for a coffee? One question – what is the licence tag you’ve used on the photos? I’ve just tried uploading a picture on to my Commons account but am a bit confused at what to put. See Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Infobox UK place to see examples of places which use that template, though there are many places that don't. It's a good standard to follow though, as it does standardise the layout.

I use a personalised variant of the {{Information}} template on Commons, which incorporates the GFDL tag. The licence you've got for the Blanche Parry image looks fine. Hope this helps. —  Tivedshambo  _(t|c) 22:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks for the link - I will try and look at the examples listed here to get a feel for a standard layout to follow. Thanks also for checking the licence for the Blanche Parry photo. I wonder if you could suggest a licence for some old photos I've scanned and that I'd like to put up on Wikipedia. I have asked for help at the following: Media_copyright_questions#Scanning_Old_Photos, but would appreciate any help you could give.

It depends how old the photographs are. If it's more than 70 years old after the death of the photographer, you can use {{PD-old}}. If the photographer is unknown, I think it's safe to assume that anything over 100 years old is public domain, (see Image:Talyllyn1904.jpg for example), but it's worth getting an expert to confirm that. If the image is more recent, you will need to get permission from the copyright holder. —  Tivedshambo  _(t/c) 13:17, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

When I got the admin bit, I found it did interrupt my article building, and I've recently been trying to redress that with more article construction work. I presume you are referring to Sam Buckman. You did not spedify a valid reason under WP:CSD. Also you seem to have deleted half the article before retagging it as empty. This is not the way to go about deletion. Take it to AfD instead. —  Tivedshambo  _(t/c) 17:36, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

The image has been deleted (by another administrator) as "Blatant advertising" [1], so the talk page was redundant as per WP:CSD#G8. Note that adding {{hangon}} automatically logs the pags in CAT:CSD, even if no speedy tag has been added. Follow-up: Just looked at the discussion and realised you weren't the uploader. To be honest, I don't think an orphaned talk page is the best place to carry out a discussion, as it is always under threat from WP:CSD#G8 as explained above. I nominated the image for deletion, and User:Jimfbleak obliged. Today, User talk:Ryanjcole asked the question 'Why was it deleted?' on the image's talk page - which doesn't seem wholly unreasonable. I was in the process of explaining things to him when you zapped the page. I've looked at WP:CSD#G8, and think the page should have survived due to the 'ifs and buts' of G8, especially taking into account the dates of the comments on that page. Ryan is now left with no answer to his question and probably a bad view of us all. I would suggest you've been a tad 'quick with the red pen' on this occasion, and that perhaps you could have explained G8 to us and asked us to 'go and play elsewhere' (on one of our user talk pages).

However, now that you're involved, I wonder what you think about all this. I think Ryanjcole (talk) is using wikipedia as his own personal gallery here and here. The first one, it seems to me, exists on wikipedia for no reason other than as a vanity page. As for the second one, does that guy really justify six images in his article (does he even justify having an article at all - I suspect it was photographer Ryan who started it as a vehicle for his images).

Is Cambrai the loco you're referring to? It's still in the museum - I tried to take some photos of it on Tuesday, but the light was wrong for it. I don't have any plans to go back there for a while, but I'll bear it in mind next time I'm in the area. Oh gawd! What has happened here, all I was trying to do was correct a mistake I made when I first created a entry for him. It seems that the correct spelling of his name is without the capital 'D'. As far as I'm aware, there's no way of removing the qualifier in the title of an article. You can hide the qualifier in links by using pipes - i.e. [[Tom Macdonald (writer)|Tom Macdonald]] —  Tivedshambo  _(t/c) 13:13, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I’ve just got back from lunch and realised that I shouldn’t have uploaded it to Commons, so tried doing it on the main site and then found out you’d got there before me! • Great, I'm glad to help out if I can. I feel I have a great knowledge on AIV, I've reported over 250 times, and every single one has been blocked ^{[citation needed]}. But, one other question. As I know, AIV gets backlogged, quite often. Maybe not right now, but it happens. I don't have the tools at the moment, and I don't want to be doing things I'm not supposed to, but would you think its OK if I check reports, and if it's clear that it's vandalism which needs to be blocked, maybe leaving a note for the admin stating so, possibly recommending a time? it's just a thought, I'm trying to get as much experience as possible, but I don't want to stand on anyones toes doing so. You created the redirect as Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge - i.e. with the full URL, instead of Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge which already exists.
