Titular diocese of Dora

The Titular diocese of Dora of Palestina Prima had united the priorate of the four military orders of Santiago, Alcántara, Calatrava and Montesa in the city of Ciudad Real. The occupant had the authority of grand master of the orders and exercised spiritual jurisdiction in the civil territory of that province.Since February 4, 1980, when the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ciudad Real was elevated from Territorial Prelature the see is vacant.
As early as the fifth century it was the residence of a bishop and suffragan to Archbishopric of Cæsarea.There are records of five Latin bishops during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Its modern Arabic name is Tantourah. Dora is a village of about 1500 inhabitants, on the seashore between Caifa and Kayseri.
