Tiruverkadu (or Thiruverkadu) (literally meaning A forest of holy herbs and roots) is a western suburb of Chennai, Tamil nadu. However, administratively, it comes under Thiruvallur district. It is famous for its Devi temple. Nearby towns include avadi,Poonamallee, Koyambedu.

As of 2001 India census[1], Tiruverkadu had a population of 30,734. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Tiruverkadu has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 61%. In Tiruverkadu, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
