Tirupattur is a town located in Vellore District, Tamil Nadu, India. The town has mainly small scale industries and mills. Tirupattur can be best described as a Satellite town, in which people reside and go to work in nearby industrial towns such as Vaniyambadi and Ambur in the north. It is well connected by road and rail to other important cities of Tamil Nadu such as Chennai and Salem, and Vellore and Bangalore in Karnataka.
It is a part of Kongu Nadu region of Tamilnadu ruled by the ancient Western Ganga Dynasty.See also Gounder (caste) for history. Please verify once again ,the Gounders Present in this Area , they are MBC, But Gounders from kongunadu region, they are BC, So please verify it.
The name Tirupattur in English means a group of ten villages/small towns. It is surrounded by several of these villages, making Tirupattur a Taluk. Tirupattur's population and land area are good enough to have political representations in the state legislature of Tamil Nadu (Member of the Legislative Assembly), as well as in the central/federal legislature of India (Member of Parliament).

As of 2001 India census[1], Tirupathur had a population of 60,803. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Tirupathur has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 67%. In Tirupathur, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

It is also known as the "Sandalwood Town" due to the abundant availability of sandalwood trees in the surrounding hills. It is very close to the 4th hill station of Tamil Nadu, the Yelagiri Hills, which is also known as the Poor man's Ooty.
There is another small hill station to the east of Tirupattur (about 35 km) known as Jawadi Hills. In the middle of this hill lies the Kavalur Observatory, which has several optical and reflective telescopes run and governed by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. There is also a small seasonal stream falls some 10 km east of Tirupattur, known as Jalagamparai.
