Tirupparamkunram is a small township, 10 km outside the city of Madurai, in South India. It is mainly known for its temple dedicated to Lord Muruga, who is popularly worshipped as the God of Tamil language.
Near the temple, is situated the famous Thiagarajar College of Engineering. The adjacent locality of Tirunagar provides a decent Middle-class environment that supports Tirupparamkunram and its surroundings. The ideal time to visit this place is in the months of January - April and July-September, when most of the Hindu festivals take place. Some of the major festivals include Thai Pusam and Panguni Utharam.

Madurai airport is very close to the place and serves many of the regional airlines in India. People could get there via Chennai International Airport that has frequent services to Madurai.

Madurai junction has direct connection to Mumbai, Chennai and many other important towns in India. From the railway station, a typical cab costs Rs. 100 ($2) to get to the Tiruparangunram. An autorickshaw typically charges Rs. 50 one-way.

Madurai Mattuthavani bus terminal can be reached from any part of Tamilnadu and Kerala. From there, local buses towards Thirumangalam and Thirunagar, stop at Tiruparanguram near the rail crossing outside the township. The journey typically takes less than an hour.

The place is in NH 47 about 450 km from Chennai and typical driving time is around 9 hours.
