Tirant lo Blanc is a 2006 Spanish film based on the 1490 Catalan language epic romance of the same name by Joanot Martorell. It was directed by Vicente Aranda. It stars Casper Zafer as the title character, Esther Nubiola as Carmesina, Victoria Abril as Viuda Reposada, and Leonor Watling as Placerdemivida.
The film was shot in English, even though it was shot partially in Spain and stars Spanish actors. According to Bernat Baldomero, press chief of the film's production company, "the film was shot in English to universalize the work and spread our literature and culture all over the world". [1]
