The District of Tirana (Albanian: Rrethi i Tiranës) is one of the thirty-six districts of Albania. It has a population of 521,000 (2004 estimate), and an area of 1,238 km². It is in the centre of the country, and its capital is Tirana. Other places in this district include Kamzë and Vorë. The current mayor of Tirana is Edi Rama. Tirana is the capital city of Albania.
