Tir na n'Og
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tir na n'Og, named after Tír na nÓg, is a Serbian band which plays Irish folk music. Described by Serbian critic Aleksandar Žikić as "the most perspective domestic band without an album"[1], in 2006 the band has finished with the recording of its first album which it started in the autumn of 2005.
The band was founded in 2000 by a group of Irish music enthusiasts[1]. At first mostly playing Irish folk and songs by bands like The Pogues or Young Dubliners, they gained an increasing faithful audience[1].
An important turning point in the band's life happened in 2003 when Tir na n'Og started performing in the line-up:
- Jovana Vujnović (vocal)
- Jovan Dragumilo (guitar and vocal)
- Miroslav Kočić (violin)
- Damir Žigić (drums)
- Ranko Radovanov (bass guitar)
Getting the steady line-up for the first time has led to the authentic sound of the band. Tir na n'Og has songs both in English and Serbian language, with a pinch of punk and folk elements (Irish and Serbian) in its music.
The band has recorded one video for the single "Brodovi".[1]
