I can not understand why Tiruvallur is continuosly being related to Panchamukha trust. I feel it is a commercial hijack. Please do not add commercial information. AdityaRachakonda 07:55, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Etymology

The article states that the name is derived from Thiru evvur. Can anyone list the source for this information. As far as I know, it came out of "Thiru evvulur", meaning "Thiru elunthu aruliya oor", in Tamil or "God descended upon the place", in English. I dont have a source for this either. I was born and brought up in Tiruvallur and I know about this by word of mouth.

Sarath

Sarath, I'm also from Tiruvallur and what I've written is what I learnt from my Tamil Teacher. If you are quite sure about the etymology (Your's sounds more correct) then please change it. AdityaRachakonda 14:55, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Retail status

This sentence pertains to the Thiruvallur district and not the Thiruvallur town. "Also in retail spending, Thiruvallur emerges third in India, only after Noida & SW Delhi surpassing Bangalore and Mumbai by a clear margin."

The external link provided clearly indicates this ("Next to Noida comes the South West Delhi district, which includes areas like Safdarjung Enclave, Sarojini Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, the cantonment area and stretches up to Najafgarh. Third is Thiruvallur (the urban part, of course), which encompasses Chennai’s northern outskirts.")

Am moving the above sentence to the article on the district, instead.--Madhu 16:18, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
