Portal

What are portals? They are are pages intended to serve as "Main Pages" for specific topics or areas. Very often, they are maintained by one or more WikiProjects on many topics.

Portals have a special namespace (Portal:). The idea of a portal is to help readers and/or editors navigate their way through Wikipedia topic areas through pages similar to the Main Page. In essence, portals are useful entry-points to Wikipedia content.

There is a special kind of portal, called featured portals. The community reaches a consensus that these portals are useful, attractive, and well-maintained. For details on featured portals, you can read more at "What is a featured portal?"
