Anti-Semitic troll
Greetings -- just FYI, the unblock you just declined was this one. Pay special attention to the screeds left on the page (Jayron deleted the worst of them) and his insulting style--most trolls just insult people with the standard abusive Anglo-Saxon words, and they're easy to ignore, and once in a while there is one who insults with real subtlety and malice, including implied threats. This is a nasty one, IMO. Cheers, and thanks, Antandrus (talk) 06:05, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for your support in my recent RFA! The final result was 61/0/3, so I've been issued the mop! I'm extremely grateful for your confidence in me and will strive to live up to it. Thanks again! —Scott5114↗ [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 07:45, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Mmbabies threat posted
- Why did you say to WP:RBI on the recent threat made by user:Mmbabies. Well, I saw a the ANI posting of a someone stating that a person made a death threat to the Betabot; and the community went all the offence saying that "if targeted a person in question" then we should call the police. The ANI complait I posted on this idoit, has a person's name mentioned in the threat. If you keep saying to RBI; and WHAT IF something does happend .... and Mmbabies does seriously harm someone. What are you going to say about that. To reply or not, drop me a line at my talk page. --Rio de oro (talk) 16:20, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am really too tired to sit here and argue with you about this. That was just my opinion on the situation, if you want to call the cops, then be my guest. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 16:51, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
March 14 OR COTW
Hello again or welcome if you are new to WP:WikiProject Oregon! Last week we did a picture drive and a NRHP creation drive. It’s hard to track the picture results, but I know I saw quite a few pictures added, so great job. With NRHP we added 7 that I saw: Mitchell Recreation Area, Salem First United Methodist Church, Portland City Hall, Crater Lake Lodge, Central Library (Portland, Oregon), Watchman Lookout Station, and Alvin T. Smith House; with most now nominated for DYK’s! So great work everybody.
This week, its back to stubs with one of the largest newspapers in the state, The Register-Guard, and a request with Oregon Coast. Feel free to help with either one, and the paper article is so short a DYK should be pretty easy to get (just need 5X expansion). As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. Aboutmovies (talk) 19:02, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you
Thank you for the warning. I'll remove all indentifying information and such. But I think I'll keep the age there, as I see no harm in people knowing my age, as anyone knowing that someone else is 35 or 56. My age does not measure my knowledge of the internet and preadators, and I am not trying to say I know everything because I'm sure I know little. Thank you, anyways. :D And since you are an admin, could you delete Image:Userkkarmapage.jpg ?kkarma 05:54, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Re:Newb admin with a quick question
Speedily withdraw it and save the content I would guess. I'm not sure whether this has happened so there's nothing written down in policy. When the real nomination goes through just explain the whole situation. Malinaccier (talk) 03:32, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Medal
When I was a new admin, I would always grow faint at the mention of deleting as much as 20 speedy articles. Once you get past the fear of screwing up after the community has entrusted you with the tools and you become bold, that's when you manage to clear backlogs. Don't start big, go small and then go large. When all else fails, a vodka shot helps get you giddy enough to clear backlogs effortlessly. :) bibliomaniac15 Midway upon life's journey... 04:46, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that is really actually good advice...and is true. I am scared of messing up, and as such do not delete everything that probably could be. And vodka always makes doing things easier, though I could get blocked for WUI, (wikiing under the influence.) :P Tiptoety talk 04:50, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Start with easy stuff like G1, G2, and other obvious stuff. Later you'll get a feel for the tougher A7, G11, and so on. Images are probably a thing to be avoided right now if you didn't actively work in tagging. bibliomaniac15 Midway upon life's journey... 04:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello
Hey there, I read your comment, and I guess that you must not know that much about me. Don't take this as an attack, I just thought I'd fill you in.
I have been an editor for three years and once even ran for adminship. I have had my age displayed in my profile for just about those three years. I have never had any real grief or problems involving it. The only time where it has been negative is when troll editors would use it as ammo to attack me and to claim that I know nothing about cars, simply because I reverted their edits where they inserted pictures of their heavily modded car into its article, or I reverted their edits where they claim that the Chevy Venture is the greatest minivan ever, and that it is going to be redesigned. Plus, although I do state my age and have a (crappy) picture of me, I have no other personally identifiable information about myself. In fact, my profile gives very little information about me personally, but instead focuses on my editing.
I am no idiot, and I know well enough about being safe on the internet. But I am glad that you took concern, I like how we all look out for each other here. Karrmann (talk) 00:19, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Adoption/Permissions
I finished reading through the Copyright subpage, and since there is no assignment, have moved on to Permissions. Here are my answers.
- What is a permission? A permission is an ability that a user is granted in addition to the powers of an unregistered user or a normal registered user. Correct
- What pages are un-registered users able to edit? Unregistered users may edit any page that isn't semi-protected or protected. Correct
- What is an auto confirmed account? An autoconfirmed account is a registered account that was made more than four days ago. Correct
- What permissions do registered accounts have? Registered users can edit any non-fully protected page, can upload files, and can move and create pages. Correct
- Who can grant rollback? Administrators can grant rollback. Correct
- What does rollback enable you to do? Rollback enables you to revert a page to the most recent version OTHER than by the most recent editor. Correct
- What should you not use rollback for? You shouldn't use rollback to help you abuse the three-revert rule in content disputes. Correct
- What are administrators able to do? Administrators have access to rollback, can give the rollback permission to users, vision of a special page allowing them to see which pages aren't watched by any users, ability to protect and unprotect pages, locking revisions in their current state until a sysop or above edits it, the ability to view edits that have been deleted, and are able to block users. Correct
- How do you request adminship? You request adminship by either being nominated or nominating yourself and following the process at Requests for Adminship (RFA) Correct
- What are bureaucrats main duties? Bureaucrats' main duties are to take care of user permissions. They can promote users to administrator or bureaucrat status, as well as control bot permissions. Correct
- What technical abilities do stewards have? Stewards have the ability to control all users' access levels on every language of Wikipedia. This is because Steward is not a Wikipedia title, but a Wikimedia title. Correct
- What does checkuser enable a user to check? Checkuser enables a user to check the IP address of certain users, to see if a user is using another account as a sockpuppet. Correct
- What is oversight? Oversight is the ability to hide a previous revision of a page from public view. Correct
- What type of a user must you be to be granted oversight? Oversight is only granted in very special cases. It is only granted to specific users, those with need for the bot, and usually those who are current or previous members of the Arbitration Committee. Correct
Thanks for reading! Let me know if you need any questions answered further. Voyaging (talk) 01:31, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Good work 100% correct! (And by the way, the copyright subpage is just for your reading pleasure, there is no lesson to accompany it. Tiptoety talk 01:47, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Eternal Legacy Notable?
There's a band I want to create an article for, but I'm not sure whether they'd be considered notable or not. They aren't underground by any means, but they arent a major band. They have an album out on an indie record label and have gotten some press attention. Please check their pages out if you have time and let me know. Thanks! Site: [1] MySpace: [2]. Voyaging (talk) 01:59, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, the first thing I am going to have you do is read WP:MUSIC and see if you think it meets notability guidelines, if you are still unsure than I would be happy to let you know my thoughts. One thing to keep in mind is that the band must have reputable third/secondary party sources the verify the content within the article. Please note that myspace pages do not count as real sources, as anyone can create those for any type of band. Hope that helps, Tiptoety talk 02:02, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Canvassing?
Could you explain to me how I am canvassing? [3] Steve Crossin (talk) 03:04, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there Steve, did not want to come accross rude so I just left a message with your current coach, I was referring to these [4] [5] where you were asking users to comment on certain situations, please understand that if they want to they will do so on their own. Overall I appreciate all of your hard work and dedication to the project, keep it up! Cheers, Tiptoety talk 05:10, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- I don't really feel that is canvassing, they were both notifications of discussions about the topic. The first diff was because myself, and the mediator of the 24 case was discussing the case on IRC. You can confitm this with Seddon69 The second one was notifying the coach that we were discussing the Israel-Palestine dispute on IRC, and as they are the co-mediator (alongside me) I felt it appropriate to inform them. You can also ocnfirm this with Xavexgoem. Regards, Steve Crossin (talk) 05:17, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think Tip (if i can call you that) is mentioning the idea that if people are interested in the issue, they'll visit the article talk page or the medcab page and discuss it. So while it might be worth flagging the most active participants on each side, flagging them all is overkill. Or maybe the issue is that off-wiki discussions like IRC tend to run the risk of whats called meatpuppetery, namely that a group of people discussed something off-wiki, came to an arrangement off-wiki, and then attempted to implement it on-wiki. We actually hit this issue at a meetup I was at last week. Someone suggested the 20 or so editors in the room might like to meet to discuss policy change proposals, and thankfully there was an Arb in the room who reminded us that we'd be committing meatpuppetry if we did that. MBisanz talk 06:28, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- You did a much better job of explaining it than I did. And yes, both of those were issues. I guess if you really need to notify a person or request them to comment on a certain issue, email would be better than their talk page, but that is personal opinion as I know some users who consider that the same as on wiki-canvassing. Please understand (Steve) that I do not think you violated any policies here, and if you would have I would have just contacted you myself, I feel it was just more of a lack of in-depth understanding of some of the policies. Instead I just wanted to notify your coach of the situation so they could take whatever steps they felt was appropriate. Keep up the good work Steve, and yes MBisanz, you are more than welcome to call me Tip. :) Tiptoety talk 14:04, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, well, that's fair enough. At the present time, most of my time will be consumed with this case, which MBisanz is also mediating it with me, it's something very hard I feel. I'm sorry if I was outta line before. Regards, Steve Crossin (talk) 14:19, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- No need to apologize, it is all a learning process. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 14:24, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

My rollback request
Thanks for granting my rollback request [[6]] in the end - I do see your point about my edit count being comparatively low. I spent a while looking around the rollback information before I requested to see if there were any hidden criteria (such as an edit count number)beyond "not edit-warring" but there didn't seem to be any, so I did! Anyway, cheers - I will do my best to demonstrate that your civility concern was unfounded. :) Mazca (talk) 12:19, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, tha is a flaw with the current rollback request system. The current process allows for any admin to create their own criteria for granting adminship, and as such creates cases like yours. Oh, I know. I'm not letting get to me, but I do want to improve in the stuff that I missed in the Rfa. And you know what, I think this taught me a good lesson about me failing the thing. Thanks for your feedback and I'll probably go to rehab. ;) -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 00:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Admin Coaching
Hey Tip, have you considered becoming a coach? We could use your help?Balloonman (talk) 08:26, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I have been very busy. I appreciate your kind words, but at this time I have two adoptee's, school, and work and just not the amount of time I would want to give my coachee's. I will consider idea a little later once I have some more free time. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 22:09, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Vera Katz and History
Howdy folks, its time for another installment of WikiProject Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week! Last week we made some improvements to the Oregon Coast and brought The Register-Guard up to B class while garnering a DYK! Great job to those who lent a hand. This week we finish up the High priority Stubs with former mayor and Speaker of the House, Vera Katz, which is pretty much a Start class now and could easily get to B class. We also have History of Oregon by request. Help out if you can, where you can. As always, to opt out, opt in, or suggest future collaborative efforts, click here. RE:
No problem. Enjoy the rest of Spring Break. (BTW, unrelated to WP, but... what electives do you take at Grant?) The Chronic 16:37, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, you enjoy yours too. And I sent you an email with your question. Tiptoety talk 16:42, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Cool. I fixed up the barnstars part of your userpage, so it appears more compact (if you prefer the former, do revert it). Cheers, The Chronic 17:03, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Huh, not sure if I like this way better or not. I will leave it for the time being and see what I think. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 17:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

User:Alphaman11
The user does not seem to get it. There are new warnings on the user's talk page after the block notice. FYI. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 20:58, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know, I left the user a message. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 21:02, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
User talk:Alphaman11
Hi there, thank you for reverting the vandalism done by User:Alphaman11, but now because he has been blocked it is pointless to continually add warnings to his usertalk page. Simply revert, there is no need to warn at this point. Thank you for your hard work. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 21:01, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
OK, fine! But please add him to your blacklist. Thank you!

Semi protection of a page
Hi!
Sorry to bother you but I wanted to see if you wouldn't mind taking a look at this comment I recently made regarding a protection request. I had a hard time getting the right article name to appear and was in the middle of explaining my mistake when you happened to read my original request so I do apologize. I've explained what I messed up so I would really appreciate it if you could take a look at my correct request and decide whether or not it could be semi-protected for a week or so.
Thanks a bunch!
Peace! SWik78 (talk) 15:52, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you for brining it to my attention. I will take a look. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 15:54, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Malleus RfC closure
Hey Tiptoety. Any chance you could close/archive/whatever Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Malleus Fatuarum as an uninvolved admin? All involved parties generally agree that it needs to end and go away - see here and Keep's talk page. Thanks - Tan | 39 20:16, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, Keeper posted an inquiry to WP:BN here. Sorry for the trouble. Tan | 39 20:18, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
