September 2007 and such

Nobody (not me at least) has accused you of being a vandal. It's just that you might have gotten too excited with the removing so-called vandalism (which was in fact unintentional) and you ought to have undid only one version (which I would have done anyway as I have noticed what I did), instead of the other 22 which did include positive contributions. I forgot to add an edit summary, but if you actually paid attention I was moving the list of Famous people because it was becoming stupidly long. Be more careful when sending out messages in future. JimmyMac82 22:13, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

As I said I accidentally forgot to add an edit summary. If you took time to read thing you wouldn't have sent me a message at all. I realise you do a good job but also assume good faith, check things and remember editors are only human. JimmyMac82 22:23, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
I had added a link to a page I was creating at that time. So you obviously didn't read to closely. The words can be found here, followed by a red link would indicate to me a page was being created. Like I say I understand what you are doing by stoppimg vandalism, but your bull in china shop approach will only serve to scare newer users away. JimmyMac82 22:31, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
All I'm saying is you should be careful not to scare new users away. I have seen this warning many times on ither talk pages, so I know the meaning and have been here for about 2 years so have some experiences of some senior (by which I mean people who literally live here) editors seemingly stuck up approach. As you haven't address my point about not actually reading the article closely and pushing ahead with a warning I'm assuming I'm right. If that had been one of my first edits, how do you think I would have felt. I probably wouldn't have come back. JimmyMac82 22:41, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah

I was too lazy to check if he did have a lot of vandalism-related edits. But either way, writing his name down on AIV tells some other users to watch out for further edits but he/she probably isn't coming back for a while. --Hasek is the best 01:10, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for Patrolling Nantucket

Thanks for your recent revert in the notable residents section of Nantucket, Massachusetts. All notable residents sections seem to be targets, One in particular that needs review is People from Newton, Massachusetts , which was recently moved from Newton, Massachusetts. Some listings have been reverted 3 or 4 times but are still there. Another article that keeps getting hit is My Country, 'Tis of Thee. I've complained but was told only 3 vandalisms isn't that bad and didn't warrant any protection. clariosophic 04:27, 12 September 2007 (UTC) coorection clariosophic 04:28, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Have another look.

Why don't you have another look at my "vandalism" here. I was actually correcting vandalism, as you can see, and your edit in fact replaced that vandalism. Please be a little more careful and less zealous when reviewing pages. Careless reversions like yours seem to drive a lot of people away from contributing to Wikipedia. --76.84.190.173 02:42, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

How do you get the "If this is a shared..." thing at the bottom of your warning (besides just adding it manually)? —Ignatzmicetalkcontribs 17:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Whoops

I reminded of a special policy on removal of warnings from ip talk pages when I made a quick search just now to find this. And all what I got was this and that... I think I have to take a day off to read this. :( --Oxymoron83 17:55, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the barnstar! I'm strained regarding your new user talk page topic if only someone will point out that prior discussion. I suspect a new discussion will probably be even longer and only go round in circles, as that seems to be the result of the older one (my first impression from a quick overview). --Oxymoron83 18:31, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for your recent assistance in stopping the vandalism at my user page. I dare not think what would have occurred if I'd reverted any changes of this guy's which were more substantial than the removal of a disputed tag. Again, thanks. Liquidfinale 05:14, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism from 209.174.208.3

I want to thank you for reverting the changes you have made to various articles that were vandalized from the IP address c209.174.208.3. This IP address belongs to a high school that I attend and I am ashamed that people would do this multiple times. I know I may have no authority over the network, but seeing as this IP address has been warned many times, I don't see why you shouldn't ban the IP address from editing entries. WPOR Collaboration: 09172007

All righty WPOR ladies and gentleman, great job last week with our state song and gemstone. I have bumped them up to Start class. I haven’t looked at the contributions, so the COTW award will be later. This week’s articles are Darlene Hooley, by special request, and another Top stub, our very own state rock, the Thunderegg. Yes, apparently we have a state rock and state gemstone. No word on whether there is a state stone too. Hooley basically needs some sources to make it to the next level. RE: Adoption!

Hi Tiptoety! I accept your offer! Thank you so much for asking! However, I need you to go over the basics with me again, from the beginning. I need a fresh-start and I need to know if you have the time to go over everything again. Even if you reject at this time, I'm thankful for offering me the chance to be adopted. Thank you! Bull Borgnine 23:26, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Ugh... I really don't know what to start with because I really don't know anything. (Except for some guidelines of WP:MOS, but that's about it) Bull Borgnine 23:38, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I have worked in some music articles like "Never Again", "Don't Waste Your Time", "One Minute" and "Potential Breakup Song". The one I have been recently editing is "Gimme More", and the ones I lost control on include "Don't Stop the Music" and "Hate That I Love You". I'm afraid I'm not familiarized with any other types of articles. Bull Borgnine 23:46, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes! But I never had the chance to spot a current single. How can I possibly do that? Bull Borgnine 23:53, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Lets start tomorrow, right now I got some homework to do. But just one more thing, I thought "Addicted" was just a song and not a single, like the song "Gone" from Breakaway. The latter never got to be released, but still charted in some Billboard charts. Bull Borgnine 00:07, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Be a little more specific. Do you mean take some ideas to incorporate in the music article we are about to create? Or do you want me to improve the article??? Bull Borgnine 19:15, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm so sorry! I had so much homework this week. If you are there right now, we can start the page. Again I apologize, I should have let you know that I was busy. Bull Borgnine 21:05, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Michael Vick

Just so you know, I deleted the passage because it had nothing to do with Michael Vick, because he had nothing to do with the watch.

I also edited the part about the Saints game because the current orientation made it seem like Vick displayed an obscene gesture at home fans for no apparent reason. I was just adding the part about how Saints fans had provoked him.

Sorry if I was unclear in my intentions.

Re: Skateboard

Oooh, "final warning". Scary. Mind pointing out precisely which of my edits was the unacceptable one? – 86.140.177.115 19:18, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[1] this one Tiptoety 19:21, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
So... I removed some vandalism by reverting to an earlier revision, but missed the fact that vandalism was present in that earlier revision, too? OK, my bad, and I'll try not to do that again... but is doing my best to to help really a blockable offence? – 86.140.177.115 19:23, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Also, the other warnings don't actually apply either, exactly -- there was some playfulness going on on Riana's user page this morning, and this user (who may be an ip of another user, who decided to edit anonymously, I think) joined in, and well... ip's changing a "famous" user's page sets off warning bells. But that edit of his which you called vandalism was certainly in good faith. Gscshoyru 19:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Don't take it too seriously, I've been blocked for trying to revert vandalism anonymously before now. But the least I can do is try to reduce the number of times it happens. Anonymous users who try to be helpful are treated very badly, on the whole – 86.140.177.115 19:30, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, we should take it seriously. I'm guilty of it too, one of those warns was mine. When I screw up reverting vandalism, people talk to me. When you screw up, you get warned. This is hardly fair.
Now if only there was some sort of affirmative action... ;) Gscshoyru 19:36, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Hello, i noticed that you beleive the warn i gave User:86.140.177.115 was un-just and that the user did not diserve a final warn. I would first like to state that i agree with you in some aspects, first being that IP's do (at times) get treated rather unfairly, but it is a bais that is based on facts, more IP's vandalize than user accounts. In my own defense the reason i warned the user with a final warn was due to the fact that s/he had been warned with level 1,2,and 3 vandal warns prior to my warn. I thank you for your comments, and i greatly incourge more of them. Thank you, and happy vandal fighting! Tiptoety 18:54, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree that based on what you saw, if the user had vandalized, that you should have given a final warn. You had no way of knowing that the other two warns weren't exactly valid. I also understand how you might have thought the user was vandalizing based on the diff, as there was vandalism left behind, even though the edit summary should have made you pause and think... and I agree that it is a bias based on facts... though it really is hardly fair to the hard-working ip users. And if you'd been around for the discussion, you'd probably have redacted the final warn, right? So what exactly do we disagree on? Gscshoyru 19:08, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Fall WPOR COTW

Welcome to autmun and the weekly COTW news. Great job to those who helped out with last week’s articles: Darlene Hooley & Thunderegg. Both made great improvements. This week, something a little different. With fall upon us, the photo ops are going to be harder to get, so we have a photo request fulfillment drive. Take a look at the requested pictures for Oregon category or the graphics subproject for what’s needed. Then go take a picture, or search online for a free picture to upload (US gov sites are great and there are links available from the above links). If you fill a request, be sure to remove the request template from the article’s talk page. Our other item is another red link removal drive, this time on the flagship Oregon article. Like the state parks red link drive, try to coordinate on the talk page. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Aboutmovies 02:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Hello. Regarding the recent annoying template message you put on on my talk page: You may already know about it, but you might find bug 9213 useful. Anonymous users are not notified of new messages they recieve until several hours after they recieve them – and once the "new messages" bar appears, it does not go away no matter how many times it is clicked. Thus warning anonymous users is pointless, and is a waste of time, effort and bandwidth. Thank you. 86.149.9.24 22:13, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

I see you flagged this as non-notable. Isn't a decorated WWII hero & participant in a famous action inherently notable? --Rodhullandemu 00:22, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

yes, but that article says very little about him being decorated, and gives far less information about the WWII hero himself. This article has no references, and in my mind does not meet WP:BIO. Tiptoety 00:28, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
OK, your call. I might have flagged it for expansion, but there ya go. --Rodhullandemu 00:30, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

I noticed this article at AfD where it was speedily kept of course. You nominated this article for deletion one minute after its creation despite him being a decorated war hero who took part in one of the most famous air raids in history. A moment's googling would have shown that he was notable. Why do you put 'decorated' in inverted commas, is it because you don't understand what it means or that you don't think it's important? I hope this was an isolated incident. Articles don't spring fully formed into life like Athena. The original article clearly said that 'During the war he won the DSO and DFC.' which is a sufficient assertion of notability in anyone's book. Nick mallory 09:33, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, i am aware that it may have not been the best choice to put it up for AfD, that is why i withdrew. I agree that i should have done some research on the topic, but from the article it did not appear that he was decorated, and that is why i wrote it like that (i am aware what decorated means), but i guess i was wrong, i was unfamiliar with that specific war hero, but now i am not, guess i learned something from it! Happy Editing! Tiptoety 13:56, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Just as a footnote, if you see me remove a speedy deletion or prod tag in the future, there's a good chance that I will have done the research and will be adding to the article. In the same spirit of WP:TEMPLAR, please gimme a chance to hack at the article before you AfD it. Of course, there's no rule that says you have to and I think it was a simple misunderstanding. Also, if I remove an experienced user's tag, there's a good chance that I would have come here to explain it after I was done with the article. Anyway, cheers and happy editing! Hello

I reverted your edit that reinserted a warning left by ClueBot on my talk. That was a False Positive and ClueBot says in the warning message: If you believe there has been a mistake and would like to report a false positive, please report it here and then remove this warning from your talk page. My False positive is report located here. Thank you. OneCoolKid 14:15, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Okay. Tiptoety 03:27, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

for the fix. Was an copy&paste mistake as I had to warn 2 users for nonsense on the same page :) --Oxymoron83 04:04, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Yea, thats what i guessed happened, just copied the title from the page histrory. Glad i could help, there is a lot of vandalism right now, better get back to it :). Tiptoety 04:06, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, Sir! =) --Oxymoron83 04:13, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I was referring to myself, lol! Tiptoety 04:16, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

deleted by author--overreacted

My mod does not use GTR, you repeatedly reposted my mod with -GTR after it and you were wrong. So forgive me if I was a bit irrate that you allow another mod to hijack my time and my creativity, and not only that delete the links from it while keeping the other mods there--2 of them don't even have 1.4.2 compatibility. My mod has had more than 30,000 downloads and is one of the most popular servers. So yeah, I was a bit upset---there is no GTR code in the mod and niehter have I used it and no other mod code in it. Just be wise and understand the fury you can causae repeatetively reposting lies about who created what. I spent time to create the mod I made and I DID NOT STEAL IDEAS OR CODE that you obviously think you are cool to keep reposting on your site. Letting another person hijack credit for my creations that is a total different mod. You reach into people's anger chords doing that crap---so do your fregen research before posting material on the net. Its just the result of the aristocracy in a small part of the Quake community---the idea there can be no mod made unless it is influenced by the small group of modders-deltactf, q4max, or gtr--which is not true. I have nothing against those mods--but they have nothing to do with mine. My earlier mod was ported inside of gtr--not the other way around, gtr was never inside of Q4SupremacyMod, TTK Bandit suggested that fragfestmod be ported inside of GTR. Fact of the matter is, the mod was too bugged and couldnt be served successfully and therefore dropped. Vandalism--i would disagree with that comment--but as you notice I took out my comments to you. But on another thing---why take out my mod link? I can provide statistical informatoin on how many downloads from my gameservers are on. Pretty fucked up that so many people who go on the server automatically assume GTR code is in it, and for no fucking reason. The few in quake have a fucking monopology on people's minds-giving them the idea that there can be nothing to quake without them being involved which is crap. Its like someone writing a book and another reviewer adding another author to the book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.128.15 (talk) 11:42, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

First off i only reverted your edit once. And second your edit was vandalismm, i welcome you to contribute constructivly to wikipedia and edit the Quake 4 article with proper information, if you belive that the information within the article is wrong then please by all means change it, but change it with sourced information, and do so without violating and policys. Thank you, Tiptoety 18:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
removed I understand it was just probably a misunderstanding about the adding of -gtr at the end. I am happy i was able to find this to be able to take back what I have typed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.128.15 (talk) 11:42, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, much appreciated! Tiptoety 23:56, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Week 1 October WP:ORE COTW

I know everyone has been waiting anxiously for this week’s COTW, so here they are: Barlow Road and Columbia River Plateau. Both are almost Start class, just some formatting and referencing, plus a little expansion and they will be there!

As to last week, it is difficult to track the items we were working on, but I know some pictures were added and at least three red links were removed from Oregon, so thank you to all those who participated. The award winner will be GoodDamon for their creation of the Oregon Forest Resources Institute article. We have now worked through all the Top class stubs and are into the High class stubs. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Happy editing, and remember if you see a downed power line, don’t pick it up. Aboutmovies 20:21, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi - Please see the comments in the AfD page for the deletion as to why I reverted the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.160.10.53 (talk) 23:15, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

vandalism

The information I provided prior was correct information so it is not vandalism. Just understnad putting other mods as mine is just something that can really cause anger. I have so many people coming onto my mod and saying it something else and my eyes just bulged out of my skull seeing that page and then having -gtr keep being reposted like 11 times after it was removed. Understand that I am not ok with that its just misinformation and false. The information prior to that about setting up a server is correct information so its not vandalism when it is used and is correct. Be careful about the information, the q4supremacymod is separate and does not use any other mod code its a creatiion that is unique and not stolen. GTR does have the mod ported inside of IT not q4supremacymod. Reposting it q4supremacymod-gtr I think you did it like 11 times, I developed it autonomously on my own with my own time not GTR's. And the information that was ont aht page is information that is correct I have the post and I use it myself and so dont many others--so yeah its not vandalism. I had to insert that your information was wrong was becuase you kept reposting the name -gtr at the end of my mod how else was I to stop it? Hence, how the idea of having my mod hijacked by another was talked about. GTR has nothing to do with q4supremacymod nothing. So many people have come to the server saying the mod had the gtr code, wikipedia is seen as an authority, I was wondering why would so many strangers come and talk about unlagged code and I can see they may have gotten that idea from this post on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.128.15 (talk) 00:14, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

We already had this disscussion above, and the result was that you did in fact vandalize once, and after that i never reverted any other of your edits, you will need to disscuss this problem on the articles talk page, or with the editors themselves. Thank you. Tiptoety 00:19, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Can you delete the post? Instead of putting lines through it? and then delete this one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.128.15 (talk) 00:21, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Why? Tiptoety 00:23, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Correct information was not what I thought vandalism was, the information was correct and not false and sourced from the source. But that really wasn't why I was upset. It was just the name. I just want to have the post deleted instead of having lines through it. I am not going to apologize for being pissed, i mean wikipedia says that my mod is using other mod code and is false so yeah anyone who creates something would get pissed if a reviewer adds another author to it. I don't really care for the idea of talking about the bugs of another mod is why I would like to see the post be deleted. My being pissed is not what I care about, its just that GTR is a good mod and I dont really care for people knowing that it was bugged out is all. I would like to take those words back even if true.

No, i will put lines through them if you like, but i will not remove them. Sorry, Tiptoety 00:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Alright, but for the record, gtr is a good mod and all mods have bugs, so I was not saying as the whole. I would prefer if you just delete that sentence, I am not afraid of flamewars but would prefer to stay out of them lol even though its a good starting point for one to have wikipedia adding the name to mine. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.128.15 (talk) 00:32, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Okay, but once you say something it can not be taken back. I hope you best of luck with your editing. Tiptoety 00:34, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh, i didn't know that. Lesson learned. I probably won't be editing pages. Best of luck to you as well. And the point is correct, even information that is correct can be considered vandalism now that I think about it. But, was not my intention though. thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.128.15 (talk) 00:55, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

"Spamming" talk pages

Hey Ty, rather than announce your new Oregon-related article on a bunch of user talkpages, just go ahead and announce it at WP:ORE and those of us who are interested will join in. Good job starting another article though, and one that has a ton of potential to become a good article as it grows--there's a lot of history and even controversy there. I know you're excited about it but if we all announced articles this way, our talk pages would get awfully crowded. Several of us monitor User:AlexNewArtBot/OregonSearchResult and if we weren't aware of it before, any new article with the word "Oregon" in it will soon get the attention it deserves. I know Aboutmovies "spams" the members of WP:ORE, but he has an opt-out option for those who don't want to get notices like that. It's fine to contact a few people you've worked with before, of course, and I see you got good results that way. Keep up the good work, and P.S. a very belated thanks for the anti-spam barnstar--I got a little sidetracked after that--that was sure heck of a lot of spam I reverted--it was exhausting. Take care, Katr67 01:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

P.S. When you think the article is ready, list it at Wikipedia:Peer review and hopefully you will get all sorts of outside opinions about how to improve the article. Katr67 03:16, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thank you! Tiptoety 03:18, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
