From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello from a brand new Wikipedia editor-in-training :)

I've always found wiki markup confusing (even as a XHTML guy), but I've learned a lot from Wikipedia and hope to become proficient shortly so that I can give something back.

My plan is to start with many minor edits while participating in talk pages, then attempt some major edits once I've found some friends to help me get the hang of it. Wikipedia is very special to me, so I want to be extremely careful while editing.

Seems rude to 'lurk', so I thought I'd just share some general information about myself. I write free software and enjoy helping to maintain repositories that track and organize source code (I really like Mercurial). Archiving things is one of my favorite hobbies, it is important to preserve the past, yesterday included.

I'm a little bored and tired of program code, so I thought I'd sharpen my human language skills a bit. I don't have too much free time, but plan to spend the bulk of it here. I've spent four years with noisy computers, humans are indeed more predictable.

See you on the talk pages :)
