Tiny Software

Tiny Software, founded in 1997 and based in Silicon Valley [1], developed and marketed the Tiny WinRoute later followed by Tiny Personal Firewall which was based on the already popular WinRoute product.

On 26 July 2000 Tiny Personal Firewall v1.0 was released. [2]

On February 05, 2001 Tiny Personal Firewall v2.0.10 (1346KB) was released. [3]

On March 07, 2001 Tiny Personal Firewall v2.0.11 (1346KB) was released. [4]

On March 23, 2001 Tiny Personal Firewall v2.0.12 (1387KB) was released. [5]

On April 25, 2001 Tiny Personal Firewall v2.0.13 (1387KB) was released. [6]

The notability of Tiny Personal Firewall stems from the fact that it was always offered as "free for home and personal use", fairly easy to use and has a small hard disk and memory footprint. [11]

In 2001 Kerio Technologies was formed, and in February, 2002, the rights to the software was transferred to Kerio [12] where the original team whom developed the software under the Tiny brand would continue to develop it as Kerio.

Despite all this, Tiny Software continued to develop a software firewall solution called Tiny Firewall v6 [13]; this was not based on the original Tiny Personal Firewall. On December 17, 2004 it was announced that it would be released as Tiny Personal Firewall 2005 [14].

On June 27, 2005 Tiny Software was acquired by Computer Associates [15]; since then their CA Personal Firewall has boasted as being "based on Tiny Software technology" [16].
