Tina Clayton Lord (formerly Roberts, Rogan, and Vickers) is a fictional character on the ABC daytime drama One Life to Live.
The role was originated in 1978 by actress Andrea Evans, whose first stint lasted until 1981. The character was twice recast in 1984 with Kelli Maroney and Marsha Clark. Evans returned in 1985, bringing Tina to her height of popularity. The series itself rose from #5 in the Nielsen Ratings in the 1984 to 1985 season to #4 in the following season, soon going to #3 in the 1986 to 1987 season, where it remained until the 1989 to 1990 season. In 1988 Evans was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Ingenue in a Drama Series" for the role, but left in 1990.
The same year, the role was recast again with Karen Witter, who played the part for four years. The final casting of Tina was in 1994 with Krista Tesreau, who played the role for two years. In 1996, Tina was written off the show; in early 1997, Tesreau briefly reprised the role to facilitate the departure of John Loprieno (who played Tina's ex-husband, Cord Roberts).
ABC.com announced in April 2008 that Evans would soon return to the role of Tina; she reappeared onscreen on June 11, 2008.[1] Executive Producer Frank Valentini noted, "Even though Andrea has not appeared on OLTL since 1990, she has remained among the most requested characters to return to the show ... I welcome her home to OLTL and to the role where she made an indelible mark on our audience."[1]

[edit] Character biography
[edit] Enter Tina
In 1978, longsuffering heroine Viki Lord Riley took in 16-year-old Tina Clayton as her ward after the death of Tina's mother, Irene Manning Clayton, a friend of Viki's from her teens. As Viki adjusted to the responsibility of raising a teenager, Marco Dane saw the perfect way to get revenge on her.
Marco befriended Tina and opened a modeling agency. His plan was to photograph the teen, superimpose her image onto pornographic photos and humiliate Viki by releasing them. Soon Marco grew fond of Tina and changed his plan, but eventually he blackmailed Viki with the photos. When Viki stumbled upon Marco's dead body, she took the photos and fled. She was arrested for his murder, but later exonerated.
Tina became involved with Greg Huddleston, and by 1980, she had come into her own; she was both seducing Mick Gordon (her best friend Samantha Vernon's boyfriend) and pursuing country-western singer Johnny Drummond. Tina's father, Ted Clayton, came to town under the guise of reuniting with his daughter but with an ulterior motive — to somehow con Viki and Tina out of as much money as he could.
Ted pitted himself against Clint Buchanan, who had taken more than a professional interest in widowed Viki. When Ted learned that Clint was about to propose marriage to Viki, he stepped up his plan by masterminding the kidnapping of Tina. His goal was not only to get his hands on the ransom, but to make himself indispensable to Viki. When Tina was safely returned home, Ted proposed marriage to Viki. Flustered, but touched by his request, Viki opted for time to consider the offer; Clint dropped out of the romantic triangle. But when Ted was later killed in 1981, a traumatized Tina left town.
[edit] The heiress
Tina returned in 1984 after having discovered that Ted Clayton wasn't her biological father. The following year, it was revealed that Tina had been sired by Viki's father, Victor Lord, which put Tina and Viki at odds. [2] Tina reveled in her newly-discovered status as Lord heiress, but was soon manipulated by charismatic schemer Mitch Laurence, who sought her inheritance. [3] When Tina interfered in Mitch's plan to frame Viki for murder, Tina was herself accused of the crime; she was later exonerated, but used Viki's mental illness to gain control of the Lord estate. [3]
[edit] Cord and Tina
For the full story of Cord and Tina's relationship, see Cord Roberts
With Viki well and the sisters reconciled, Tina found herself attracted to the good-natured Cord Roberts. When she discovered that he was the long lost son of Viki's wealthy husband Clint Buchanan, Tina raced to marry Cord before even he knew he was a Buchanan heir. Cord and Tina often clashed, primarily over Tina's recurring lies and schemes, and the couple suffered frequent breakups and makeups. After having been married (and divorced) three times, Tina and Cord called it quits for good in the early-mid 1990s.
Tina went on to become romantically involved with con men Cain Rogan and David Vickers, both of whom she married briefly. In 1996, Tina left Llanview with her and Cord's two children, C.J. and Sarah, and moved to Baltimore, Maryland to become a professional shopper for Logan's Department Store.
[edit] The missing years
In 2003, Tina and Cord's daughter Sarah (now calling herself "Flash") returned to Llanview. It was noted that Viki, Cord and the Buchanan family had lost all track of Tina and the children since they had moved to Baltimore and had not heard from them for years. Sarah revealed that during Tina's hiatus from town, she had moved them from Baltimore and taken back up with Cain Rogan; Sarah claimed that Tina and Cain had forbidden her from pursuing her musical dreams, and that Tina's parenting had driven both Sarah and C.J. to run away. In 2004, Cord returned to the show to collect Sarah, and vowed to Viki and Asa Buchanan to find Tina.
When Sarah returned again in 2007, she noted that her mother was "off doing one of her things" and that Tina rarely corresponded but sent her money from time to time. Sarah said that Viki and Clint would have a hard time finding Tina, adding "she's where I got my run and hide genes". Clint has confirmed he and Cord cannot locate Tina.
[edit] The return
Tina reappears in Llanview on June 11, 2008 as the Crown Princess of Mendorra,[4] with the Mendorran crown jewels recently stolen on their way to be displayed in town.
ABC.com notes that the character returns "with a big secret, a surprising revelation on where she's been, as well as a connection to one of Llanview's most powerful residents. Her return will kick off a major story that will play through the summer ... and which will open the door for another fan favorite to return." [1] Tina's return will also be tied to the reappearance of Tina's ex-husband Cain Rogan in July.[5]
