[edit] Image:Msyelevst.jpg
You haven't edited Wikipedia for a while, so I'm sending you a copy of this message through two e-mail addresses I found on your sites. Someone has noted that one of the maps you posted on Wikipedia, Image:Msyelevst.jpg, contains some inaccuracies as to the labels of the place names ("It shows the 9th Ward in New Orleas East and Arabi is shown where the 9th Ward actually is" was an example someone gave). Do you have an updated or corrected version of this map, or would you be interested in making a corrected version?
Thank you!
The exact comment that was made is available here: Talk:Effect_of_Hurricane_Katrina_on_New_Orleans#Flood_Elevations_Map (Please don't take the comment personally if you feel it's rude.)
I hope you can continue to help contribute! --AySz88^-^ 03:33, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi. I added some more notes at the same discussion. I'd noticed some problems with name placements as well, but mostly I was impressed that you can make such maps; we can use more good maps! If you can reccomend programs for creating such maps, or would be willing to take suggestions for an improved version, that would be great. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 06:53, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Airports
Greetings! While going over the change log in assessments for WikiProject Airports, I noticed that you had created Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo Airport. Your help is very much appreciated. I'd like to invite you to join the WikiProject, if you feel so inclined. You can find the participants subpage either from the navigation panel on the right side of all our project pages or simply by going to WP:AIRPORTS/P. Thanks! thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 00:38, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't suppose you gave the project any more though? We'd still love to have you aboard! thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 21:07, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

- Oh, I'm not dismissing it at all; my time has been erratic the past few days. I'll take a look this week. Thanks, -Timvasquez 22:19, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A statement about my Russian airport work
This past week I have been loading up Wikipedia with information on former Soviet and current Russian airports. Oddly enough, Russian aviation infrastructure has been one of many passing hobbies of mine as I've always been interested in the Soviet military. It's always been very easy to find information on Soviet aircraft, but it's hard to find good information on the facilities, so that's where my curiosity has always led. Starting in mid-2005 I sat down and did an exhaustive survey of all the air bases and airports from all of my maps and references (over 1200 of the airfields) and posted them at russianairfields.com. I no longer wish to maintain that site and would like to see the information prosper with the input of anybody, especially since details are always so scarce, so I decided to start offloading the info to Wikipedia and shut down the russianairfields.com website in 2007 or so.
I have decided to limit inclusions to Wikipedia to ONLY paved airfields longer than 1000 meters, unless the airfield is noteworthy in some way. I am also using making use of the tags Russia-mil-stub, euro-airport-stub, and asia-airport-stub; and the categories Soviet Air Force bases, Russian Air Force bases, Soviet Naval Aviation bases, Russian Navy, Airports built in the Soviet Union, and Category:Airports in Russia as appropriate. I am also using the excellent Airport frame.
If you all have any questions about the work, let me know. -Timvasquez 19:13, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- I have one. Should the articles not be "Kryuchkovo Airbase" or "Air Base" or "Airfield". Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 17:21, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- I considered that, but I have never encountered Soviet airfields that literally contain "Air Base" in the title (at least in the English literature). This seems to be mostly a convention the U.S. Air Force uses for its own bases. In Russia the convention seems to be to use the nearest village name, or in the case of a large city, use a numerical designator, i.e. Severomorsk-2. Quite often they are just referred to as, variously, "Tiksi aerodrome" and "Tiksi air base" (uncapitalized). This is also the convention I see in declassified FOIA documents in the CIA archive website. So if there is ambiguity I use (air base). Hopefully some ex-Soviet servicemembers will fix things where appropriate (a lot of times the numerical airfield designator is unknown). -Timvasquez 17:32, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

An image you uploaded, Image:Weselberg.jpg, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 17:17, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re Oshmyan
Hello, I have noticed that you have created articles about a number of airports in Lithuania. Unfortunately most of them are badly mispelled. I corrected some, but this one puzzles me. Are you sure it's in Lithuania and not Belarus? Because Belarus has a city named Ašmiany... Renata 08:10, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, there may have been a mistake regarding the international boundaries, however the latitude/longitude are correct and should be used to establish the location. As far as misspellings, I welcome the move of any articles to one which uses the correct name. I do recommend that a redirect be added using the original name, since the names were obtained from United States aeronautical charts and many US/UK/Canada users will be looking up the airports under these "Americanized" names. -Timvasquez 05:41, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Babyonboard.gif
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Babyonboard.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:13, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. [edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Y10view.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Y10view.gif. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 15:22, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
