[edit] Non-free images removed from your user page

Hi, sorry, but I removed some non-free images you have on your user page. Per policy, fair use images should only be used in the article namespace. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 18:21, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for taking so long, but click on the image and you'll get to the image page (like at Image:George H. W. Bush, cropped.jpg) which lists the license it is under. A list of free licenses can be found at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Free licenses. Those you are free to use anywhere you want, for the most part. Anything that has one of the non-free tags at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free are only supposed to be in very limited form (the images belong to someone and the law gives us a limited ability to use it without infringing on their rights), so the policy is those can go on articles (again, limited in use) and not on user pages or templates. Last, anything that is located at Wikimedia Commons is free. I hope that's all clear (a bit complicated, I know), but if not, just ask. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 01:42, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:SteveWinwoodDirtyCity.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SteveWinwoodDirtyCity.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] User-requested deletion

Seems like you found the tag. Sorry for taking so long to respond. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:19, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't be discouraged

I noticed your userpage stated that you were going on an "indefinite hiatus" from Wikipedia. I know it can be annoying when someone puts one of your user subpages up for MfD (particularly one which must have taken you a lot of work). But please don't be discouraged from editing. Your contributions are welcome, especially well-written articles such as Catabolysis, and we in the Wikipedia community do appreciate your hard work. WaltonOne 18:29, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RE thanks

That's OK, I'm just glad you're still contributing to Wikipedia. And I'm sure you'll get your novel published someday. (NB I'm not sure why you reverted your edit to my talkpage; there was nothing wrong with it.) WaltonOne 00:08, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:E.C. Connelly 2019 Book Cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:E.C. Connelly 2019 Book Cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:19, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
