[edit] Biography

[edit] Early Life

Born in Iver Heath, a small village in South Buckinghamshire, England, Tim has always aspired to be involved in Theatre. From his very early years he would always be helping out with productions with the local amatear dramatics group The Priory Players based in Gerrards Cross.

In 1994, he moved with his parents to Broadmayne, Dorset where he attended The Thomas Hardye School for the rest of his school years. Whilst here, he self-taught himself the technical know-how to become the schools resident theatre technician, providing Lighting Design, Sound Design as well as general operating duties.

From 1995 onwards, he got involved with the Weymouth Drama Club, a local Amateur Dramatic group in Dorset. He would regularly be on the Stage Crew, but also acted as Lighting Designer, Stage Manager & Pyrotechnics operator on several occasions.

[edit] University

Clare attended Queen Margaret University (QMU) from 1999-2002 where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Stage Management & Theatre Production. His production roles included Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager, Production Manager & Audience Services Manager. As well as Assistant Costume Designer/Dresser, Build Crew and Assistant Stage Manager.

During his time at QMU, he completed his Vari*Lite Series 300 DMX Technician certification as well as his basic PAT Testing qualification. His end of course work experience was at White Light UK in Wimbledon under the Moving Light Company section.

Upon completing his degree, Tim automatically became eligible to take up membership of Equity as a professional Stage Manager.

Clare took part in an exchange programme with QMU where he joined two other students for three months at the Ohio Northern University, to help out with the running of the backstage crew for their summer musical, Godspell. His primary roles were senior technician and sound technician (for a live band and 16+ radio microphones), but was also part of the build crew.

On completion of his degree, Clare moved to Denver, Colorado in 2003 to further his career. Until his work permit was approved he could only work for amateur companies, and was involved in productions with the Ovation Players and Main Street Players. At the end of the year he started working for Town Hall Arts Center in Littleton, Colorado as a semi-full-time theatre technician. From 2003-2005 Clare worked as part of the Build Crew for all shows. Whilst covering the roles of Stage Manager, Stage Crew, Lighting Operator and Sound Operator for main shows & children's theatre performances.

In 2004 Clare Stage Managed Kiss Me, Kate for Robert Wells and Wells was impressed with his technical skills. Later in 2005 Wells offered him one of the three permanent roles at the Avenue Theater as Technical Director. The position also covered the running of the lighting & sound boards, and being the resident Stage Manager & Lighting Designer. His daily duties involved maintainance and upkeep of the theatre as well as improving the theatre functionability. Clare stayed there until his work permit expired at the end of that year.

After returning to the UK, Clare worked for West Dorset District Council as the Process Team Officer, under the Development Services division. The Avenue Theater are currently in the process of trying to renew his work visa, and once this has been finalized, he will return to Denver to continue his duties at the Avenue.

Clare has been involved in many productions with the Weymouth Drama Club again since he has come back from the States.
