Pastor Tim White
Tim White is the founding pastor of Washington Cathedral located in Redmond Washington and previous host of Inspiration TV. he is the author of the book To Dreamers Long Forgotten. Washington Cathedral is a meta church meaning that it is a highly decentralized church which in many ways looks more like a movement than an institutional church. It is made up of hundreds of Tiny Little churches which meet in homes, restaurants, offices and coffee shops throughout the Puget Sound area. These home churches form into five incorporated non profit 501c3 foundations each with a its own board of directors and separate mission to minister to people without regard for return because they see the face of Jesus in each hurting person that they help. These organizations include:
1) The Charity Alliance which sponsors the Santa Claus Conspiracy in the Puget Sound area and specializes in providing grants to those who work with the poorest of the poor who live in and work around city dumps in the developing world.
2) The Health Resource Center which includes Christian athletic ministries to various ages in the community, health classes and counseling, New Life 12 step recovery ministries, Northwest Christian Martial Arts, an annual health fair and a soon to be opened community mental health counseling center under psychiatrist Dr. Raymond Vath.
3) Washington Seminary which is a seminary which trains lay people for the work of ministry. It provides four different masters degrees with an emphasis in a post modern approach to Christian Education. Washington Seminary is led by Chancellor Dr. Marty Folsom and Provost Rev. Dwight Perkins. While Washington Seminary will soon include on line courses it is presently operates out of an inspiring building with a beautiful chapel with a 65 foot glass steeple and a 35 foot waterfall.
4) Excel Business Ministries which provides seminars, financial and professional counseling, Networking groups for Christian entrepreneurs.
5) Build the Family Center which provides the largest divorce recovery program in the state of Washington and marriage enrichment classes, parenting classes and counseling, an after school academy to inspire children between 3 and 5 to high achievement in science, sports, the arts, Reading of classical literature, and history. It is held at the soon to be opened Randy and Rod Recreation center which is fully handicapped accessible with a zero entry pool, a gymnasium, an inspiring library, a wireless cafe with tutorial space, and a counseling center. The hundreds of Tiny Little Churches with lay pastors trained at Washington Seminary also form into 11 culturally divergent worship services.
Pastor Tim White is a graduate of Kamiakin High School in Kennewich Washington where his father Dr. Dale White founded the Cathedral of Joy. He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Psychology and received a masters of Divinity from George Fox Evangelical Seminary. He has studied at the University of Jerusalem in Jerusalem Israel and is currently working on his doctorate at Fuller Theological seminary. Tim has been married to his high school sweet heart Jackie for 32 years and Jackie is co-pastor at Washington Cathedral in overseeing New Generation ministries which include young adults through babies. They have three children. Oldest Daughter Elise Diaz who is a graduate of the University of Washington and Fuller Theological Seminary and serves in ministry with her husband Rey. Their son Roman Timothy is a graduate of the University of Washington and is presently going to graduate school at the University of Iowa studying creative writing. Tim and Jackie’s youngest daughter Becca attends Seattle Pacific University and hopes to study theology at the graduate level.
Pastor Tim White is an avid reader with a special interest in science, philosophy and history. He loves golf, fishing, hiking, and long walks with his wife Jackie and their dog strider. He has served in our community on 8 different boards of directors, has been a volunteer for the boys and girls clubs, the Union Gospel Mission, the American Little League, the march of dimes, cub scouts, and boy scouts. He enjoys volunteering as a football coach for young men every fall. He has written several books and published one entitled To Dreamers Long Forgotten. Being a pastor of pastors – Tim White still spends time doing hospital calls, marriage and personal counseling, discipling of leaders, and even going door to door after 23 years of it to meet the neighbors of Washington Cathedral.
