Timiskaming Square is a shopping mall in the Dymond area of the city of Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, Canada. Its main tenant is Zellers, which, in a rather uncommon setup, actually occupies two store sites, requiring shoppers to walk through the interior corridors of the mall to travel between the store's two halves. The other anchor store is Food Basics. The mall has 164,142 sq. ft. (15,249 m²) of space.
It is owned by RioCan and was very popular during the 1980s, contributing to the decline of the downtown businesses of Haileybury, and to a lesser extent, New Liskeard. Since then, large Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire stores have been built nearby, resulting in a decline in mall business.
The grocery store had been a Loeb store until 2007, when a major roof failure forced its closure. The store was reopened as Food Basics.
A large proportion of the mall's customers are from nearby Quebec, which is a short drive away on Highway 65 East.
During the Sunday shopping debate, the shopping centre was cited as one of the primary reasons the local representitive voted in favour of the bill.[1]
