  • After a 10-day recovery period, Aric is forced to defend himself and Ken Clarkson against an attack of spider aliens. Aric also discovers that the X-O armor has changed, somehow evolving while he slept for the last fifteen centuries.

  • Aric and Solar battle the spider aliens, destroying them and the X-O armor's seed, ensuring that another suit of X-O Manowar armor cannot be created for 2000 years.

  • Geomancer Geoff McHenry sneaks past the security at Project: Rising Spirit, and interferes with their latest experiment. In the process, the hero known as Bloodshot is released into the world.

  • Returning to base with a stolen Harbinger data disk, the H.A.R.D. Corps agents are trailed and their headquarters destroyed by the Eggbreakers and Harbinger Foundation troops.

  • Bloodshot goes after a member of the cartel that sponsors OMEN Enterprises and crosses paths with the H.A.R.D. Corps.
  • The H.A.R.D.Corps discovers a nest of spider aliens in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Master Darque transforms Fred Bender into a being of pure necromantic energy, renaming him "Doctor Eclipse."
  • The Immortal Enemy reappears in the body of a man named Juan Caldone. Having the ability to leap from one body to the next, he takes possession of Gilad.
  • Geoff the Geomancer forms the Secret Weapons team to tackle Doctor Eclipse.

  • Aric sends the X-O armor away, to keep it from falling into Toyo Harada's hands. Aric is slain by Harada. Though Harada is dealt a mortal blow by Aric, he survives by transferring his consciousness into another body.

  • After years of extending her life, Solar allows Gayle Nordheim the death she wishes. Solar splits into two beings: one leaves to explore new planes of reality, while the other slips quietly into seclusion and is not seen again for more than a millennium.

  • As the Harbinger Wars enter their third century, the H.A.R.D. Corps and the various corporate armies have taken defensive positions. The remnants of mankind are huddled into corporate city-states all over the world.

  • Due to an unprecedented power surge, the island-wide network that encompasses Japan becomes freewill and begins thinking and acting independently. The Japanese people name their mechanical keeper, "Grandmother."

  • The first Rai is slain by the Anti-Grannies. Grandmother choses a homeless vagrant named Sho Shugino to be the next Rai.

  • Sho Shugino, the second Rai, takes the Blood of Heroes from a group of Anti-Grannies. Bloodshot's blood is given to Grandmother for safekeeping.

  • Ana Kawainui recruits Rokland Tate as her successor in the line of Geomancers. She tells Tate of the coming of Unity and begins training him in the mysteries of Geomancy.
  • Erica Pierce discovers the Lost Land. She decides to use it as a base from which to launch Unity, her plan to unite all timelines and to make time outside of the Lost Land "unreal."

  • During a holiday on Mars with 1-A, the 16-year-old Magnus gets his first taste of battling Freewills when he saves the governor's daughter from a kidnap attempt.

  • Magnus makes his first appearance in North Am, destroying H-8, the robot Chief of Police, and frees 1000 people whose minds have been enslaved to power the central computer.

  • Rentaro Nakadi, the 41st Rai, retires when his son, Tohru reluctantly agrees to become take his place as Grandmother's champion. Tohru places his son, Takashi, in Grandmother's care.
  • Solar, after a period of seclusion lasting hundreds of years, reappears to humankind just in time to stave off another attack by the spider aliens.
  • The robots 1-A and Grandmother fuse and become the Grand One in order to save Earth from the spider aliens.
  • After the spider aliens are defeated, Japan is stranded in space orbiting the Earth.
