A time switch is an electric switch with a build-in clock that plugs into a socket, between the socket itself and a power plug. This, to allow connected devices of being turned on for a certain duration of time.
Time switches are available in both mechanical as completely electronic versions and are used amongst others in the timing of ovens, washing machines, street lights and aquariums.
